Meghan Markle has made a lavish return to London, stepping out in a designer ensemble worth more than $15,000 and an additional $35,000 in fine jewellery for an intimate afternoon tea with Taliban survivor Malala Yousafzai.<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, reunited with the 29-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate at the prestigious five-star Claridge’s hotel in Mayfair on Wednesday, marking her first reported appearance in the British capital since relocating to the UK in late August.<\/p>\n

For the high-profile catch-up, Meghan spared no expense, showcasing her penchant for luxury fashion in an understated but costly ensemble.<\/p>\n

The mother of two opted for a cream cashmere jumper by Co, priced at $575 (about AUD$822), paired with wide-leg Ralph Lauren Collection trousers worth $1,990 (about AUD$2,855).<\/p>\n

She completed the look with a sweeping camel coat by Tove, valued at $2,283 (about AUD$3,268), and Saint Laurent ‘Chris’ loafers worth approximately AUD$1,575.<\/p>\n

Adding another touch of luxury, the former actress carried a vintage black Chanel 19 handbag, estimated to be worth AUD$7,000.<\/p>\n

However, it was Meghan’s dazzling jewellery collection that accounted for the biggest expense.<\/p>\n

The Duchess accessorised with a diamond and emerald necklace by Logan Hollowell, valued at $21,245 (about AUD$30,000), alongside a diamond-encrusted Oura ring sleeve from the same designer, worth $2,875 (about AUD$4,114).<\/p>\n

As the pair departed the exclusive London establishment, Meghan was also seen carrying a canvas tote bag featuring colourful patchwork detailing, including what appeared to be illustrations of women wearing hijabs.<\/p>\n

Despite the Duchess’ extravagant wardrobe, the meeting carried a more meaningful purpose, with the longtime acquaintances joining forces to champion girls’ education.<\/p>\n

A source told People magazine the afternoon tea was “a chance for a catch-up between friends” before Meghan offered her 4.9 million Instagram followers a glimpse inside their reunion.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the Duchess marked International Day of the Girl by sharing photographs of herself and Malala alongside an announcement about a new charitable initiative involving her lifestyle brand, As Ever.<\/p>\n

The pair shared a joint message highlighting the importance of education in shaping the future of young women. “‘When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this.’ \u2013 Meghan, Duchess of Sussex & Malala Yousafzai.”<\/p>\n

Meghan also revealed that proceeds from selected As Ever products would be directed towards the Malala Fund, which advocates for girls’ access to education around the world.<\/p>\n

It is not the first time the two women have joined forces to raise awareness about girls’ education.<\/p>\n

In October 2020, Meghan and Malala participated in a livestreamed discussion to mark International Day of the Girl, speaking about the barriers preventing young women from accessing educational opportunities.<\/p>\n

Following their conversation, the heroic London-based Pakistani activist shared a heartfelt message about their shared commitment to the cause.<\/p>\n

“Meghan and I are on the same page: we both believe that when girls have access to education, everyone wins.<\/p>\n

“Thank you so much to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for sitting down with me to have an important conversation about the future of our world.”<\/p>\n

Meghan’s latest charitable partnership comes as she continues to expand her philanthropic work alongside her growing portfolio of commercial ventures.<\/p>\n

Following the announcement of her collaboration with the Malala Fund, the Duchess unveiled another initiative involving a limited-edition sweatshirt created with MOM (Moms Offering More).<\/p>\n

Half of the proceeds from the garment will support the organisation\u2019s work with underserved young people and families across the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n

The remaining 50 per cent will benefit Alliance of Moms, a non-profit co-founded by Meghan’s close friend Kelly McKee Zajfen, which provides support to pregnant and parenting teenagers in foster care.<\/p>\n

Modelling the sweatshirt herself, Meghan posed for a promotional photograph with a blue steel expression before sharing a message about the importance of supporting vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

“This International Day of the Girl, I’m proud of the way we are showing up, including with our Archewell Philanthropies collaboration with @momsofferingmore, supporting families alongside @allianceofmoms and @allianceforchildrensrightsAs Moms Offering More says: ‘It’s the little things.’ And all of those ‘little things’ ladder up to big support.”<\/p>\n

Meghan’s London appearance comes as she and Prince Harry prepare for another significant milestone in their return to British life.<\/p>\n

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to undertake their first joint public engagement since relocating to the UK, with a visit to Nottingham scheduled for Thursday.<\/p>\n

During their upcoming visit, the couple are expected to meet representatives from three charities working to support young people and local communities through music, filmmaking, sport and initiatives addressing food poverty.<\/p>\n
