Kyle Sandilands<\/a> is being sued by his builders after a million-dollar renovation to his mansion.<\/p>\n

The shock jock turned podcaster allegedly owes the company more than $200,000 but he says they blew the budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not the state government where I just keep f—— paying bills and paying bills,\u201d Sandilands told A Current Affair<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The six bedroom, five bathroom, four car estate at Glenorie in Sydney\u2019s north-west has been Sandilands\u2019 passion project since he purchased the property for $3 million in 2022.<\/p>\n

He said he had plans to renovate it as a family home.<\/p>\n

Sandilands called in Sydney company Alter Build Co to take on the revamp.<\/p>\n

The construction company has been operating since mid-2024 and claims to have a combined 20 years of experience in the industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did roll the dice on these guys. They weren\u2019t really up to that sort of level, but maybe this is just a lesson for all of us. Maybe I should pay more attention and they should pay more attention,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sandilands says he gave the builders a $1 million budget, which he says they blew.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe paid like f—— $1.6 million or something and then just the payments or the bills kept coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were like, no, you haven\u2019t paid it so I speak to my accounts person. They\u2019re like, yeah, no, I was paid three weeks ago,\u201d he told A Current Affair.<\/p>\n

Sandilands says he wanted to see evidence of approvals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said I want to see the whole payment schedule and then they couldn\u2019t or wouldn\u2019t provide it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On October 1, the owners of Alter Building Co launched a civil court case against the 55-year-old radio star, claiming he owes $240,000 on the bathroom, kitchen and laundry works.<\/p>\n

A Current Affair contacted one of the co-owners of Alter Build Co.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not in a position to comment, but we\u2019re just going to let the court system play out,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Sandilands added: \u201cI\u2019ve got no issue with the guys, but that\u2019s what the courts are for. They think one thing, I think another. So we just let some dude in a wig figure it out.\u201c<\/p>\n

After deciding it was too far for him and his wife to travel back and forth to the city, Sandilands listed the home for sale with a price guide of $5.7 million to $5.9 million.<\/p>\n

But he has had a rough time in the current market, failing to sell the house at auction in May after an $800,000 price cut.<\/p>\n

Sandilands is now \u201cslumming it\u201d in his other freshly-renovated property in Sydney\u2019s east.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster and his family moved in after his on-air blow up with Jackie \u201cO\u201d Henderson on KISS FM, which led to him losing that job.<\/p>\n

In June, Sandilands reached a $12 million settlement with ARN for wrongful termination, which prompted the launch of his podcast venture Kyle Sandilands Live.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I could be always happier, but yeah, it\u2019s going really well. It\u2019s paying for itself and the paying for the staff,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The show has 55,000 subscribers, and Sandilands says he wants to double that number.<\/p>\n

His lawyers will be back in court on October 23,<\/p>\n

The radio and TV host says he harbours no animosity towards the builders.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m not against these guys. They were very nice and I think they had the best intentions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
