{"id":92600,"date":"2025-08-24T15:31:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T15:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/92600\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T15:31:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T15:31:08","slug":"pram-race-raises-thousands-for-hospice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/92600\/","title":{"rendered":"Pram race raises thousands for hospice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fancy dress pram race has raised thousands for charity, with more than 100 people racing in homemade carts.<\/p>\n<p>The annual Ackworth PramFest saw 20 teams push adults in prams for two miles around the town to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract.<\/p>\n<p>Organiser Steve Brown said the event was won by the Cool Runnings team, who dressed as the Jamaican bobsleigh team from the film of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>The race started at Carr Bridge and ended at Ackworth Cricket Club where more than 3,000 people celebrated with stalls, games, rides and live music.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the race each team stopped for a drink in five pubs: Ego, Masons, Angel, Village Club and the Boot and Shoe.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Brown said some teams had been taking the preparation ahead of the big day more seriously than others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s certain teams that really do want to win,&#8221;
