She was speaking as the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/mipcom\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mipcom\" data-tag=\"mipcom\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MIPCOM<\/a> audience was shown a trailer of Blue Planet III. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe would never use AI on something that because you are lying to the audience and we can never do that,\u201d Phillips said in Cannes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHer comments came a fortnight after her boss, DG Matt Brittin, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/09\/doctor-who-ai-episode-bbc-matt-brittin-pretty-good-1237116025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said he had been sent <\/a>an AI-generated episode of Doctor Who, which he called \u201cpretty good.\u201d This has got<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/10\/bbc-staff-concerns-matt-brittin-ai-doctor-who-1237149848\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> some people\u2019s backs up<\/a> at the BBC, who fear for AI\u2019s impact on jobs and creativity. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cLiterally a creative carcass\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPhillips delivered an emotional statement today about how the BBC will continue commissioning shows the way it always has, rather than relying on algorithms. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHer comments came as the BBC works more closely with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/youtube\/\" id=\"auto-tag_youtube\" data-tag=\"youtube\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube<\/a> including launching numerous channels and a day after YouTube Europe boss Pedro Pina said the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/10\/youtube-not-invested-in-producing-content-pedro-pina-1237154651\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">platform is \u201cnot invested in producing content.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cSomeone asked me recently about algorithms and whether I\u2019d commission based on algorithms and I\u2019d like to say very clearly, \u2018Absolutely not\u2019,\u201d said Phillips. \u201cJust because the distribution mechanism is changing it doesn\u2019t mean that our creative goals have changed. People want great content. YouTube is not a commissioner, it\u2019s a platform.
