He ruled the Aussie airwaves in the early 2010s, now performer Reece Mastin is set to wind back the clock for Perth fans at Telethon this weekend in his first appearance at the event in 12 years.<\/p>\n

Mastin took a slightly \u201cheavier\u201d rock turn several years after winning The X Factor in 2011, and is currently travelling through Australia and New Zealand with new music as part of The New Dawn Tour.<\/p>\n

Based in Victoria\u2019s Mount Macedon, Mastin is excited to create new memories in WA \u2014 and reconnect with local audiences \u2014 in his return to Telethon following 2013 and 2014 appearances.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a minute,\u201d he told PerthNow in September.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that was probably the only thing I\u2019d really been a part of where the whole entertainment industry \u2014 TV, music, the whole shebang came together, and it felt like everybody was there for really this one reason, and it really showed backstage.\u201d<\/p>\n

After replaying highlights of his time here, Mastin said he is \u201citching to be a part of it again\u201d.<\/p>\n

As for his stage performance, the entertainer feels he\u2019s got two high-energy tunes sure to wow the crowd.<\/p>\n

With a back catalogue of catchy hits that includes Good Night, Shout it Out, and Rock$tar, Mastin is likely to perform one of his own songs, plus a cover, as he strikes the right chord for the occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve gotta match the chaos that is Telethon. So they\u2019re gonna be party vibes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not gonna push it too far. I\u2019m not gonna get too shouty or aggressive, but it\u2019s gonna be nice and loud, lots of guitars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entertainment personalities enlisted for Telethon Weekend are often told to expect the unexpected.<\/p>\n

Pies to the face, bare male chests, and even lip syncing contests are certified crowd-pleasers<\/p>\n

So, how much is Mastin willing to offer on a big weekend of giving?<\/p>\n

Well, that depends if eight-legged creatures or heights are involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love to say that I\u2019m up for anything, but spiders . . . going off to high things. I have a lot of fears, and I\u2019m committed to saying no when I need to,\u201d he teased.<\/p>\n

Recalling the whirlwind experiences of his last two visits, the rocker is hoping to obtain more hands-on experience this time around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to do all the phone stuff, all the stuff that you see at Telethon, like the quintessential things. I know the boys in the band are keen as well. They\u2019re going to stick around backstage,\u201d Mastin added.<\/p>\n

Last year, WA raised a mammoth fundraising tally of $90,160,275 for children across the State.<\/p>\n

Mastin said he would love to be part of a record-breaking figure in 2026.<\/p>\n

His message to audiences: \u201cWe will bring our A-game. Perth, bring yours.\u201d<\/p>\n
