{"id":928885,"date":"2026-10-15T09:28:23","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T09:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/928885\/"},"modified":"2026-10-15T09:28:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T09:28:23","slug":"supercars-tickford-racing-reacts-to-thomas-randle-missing-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/928885\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars: Tickford Racing reacts to Thomas Randle missing finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FOR the first time in the short history of Supercars finals action, Tickford Racing will start with one of its cars officially out of the title hunt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, Triple Eight, Grove Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United and Tickford all got both their drivers into the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Triple Eight, Grove and Walkinshaw TWG have now repeated that feat, but the same cannot be said about Tickford.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-58-Cam-Waters\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cam Waters<\/a> secured his golden ticket back in August at the Ipswich Super440, but ninth place in last weekend\u2019s Bathurst 1000 was not enough to lift <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1293-Thomas-Randle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Randle<\/a> into finals. The Castrol Mustang driver is 12th in the points with three rounds remaining.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tickford team manager Matty Roberts expressed the hurt attached to having half of its line-up already over and out, but vowed to have both sides of the garage come out swinging at Surfers Paradise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe were hoping to have a better result than we did for both cars,\u201d he told V8 Sleuth of Bathurst.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Sandown-Supercars-Saturday-2-28-of-154-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-266519\"  \/>A glum Cam Waters. Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate for Tom coming home in ninth in the race and 12th (in the points).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe won\u2019t change our mindset, we\u2019re still racing hard at Gold Coast. Tommy will be going for the win just as much as Cam will.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that we\u2019ll continue to push forward and make sure we\u2019ve got plenty of speed at Gold Coast. It wasn\u2019t evident (at Bathurst). Friday qualifying really hurt us, the track conditions really caught us out.
