An iconic bar in the heart of Perth\u2019s city has called last drinks with the venue closing its doors after more than 14 years of service.<\/p>\n
Lalla Rookh had become a local institution in the CBD and a favourite watering hole for many since opening its doors on St Georges Terrace.<\/p>\n
The venue made the shocking announcement in a social media statement, letting Perth residents know this is their last chance to dine before it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter more than 14 wonderful years, our time at Allendale Square is coming to a close,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom long lunches that turned into late nights, to celebrations, first dates, familiar faces and countless glasses raised, what a journey it\u2019s been.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the lead-up to our final service, we\u2019ll be bringing back some old favourites, hosting special events and celebrating everything that has made Lalla Rookh what it is today.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the shocking news that has left locals devastated, the Italian venue will continue serving until December 23 with reservations now open up until their final day.<\/p>\n
Regulars and fans of the joint have showered praise in the comments while wallowing in sorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am gutted to hear. Lalla is and has been such a special place to myself and i know to so many others,\u201d one comment said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have spent many a day\/night in this beautiful venue. We even had our wedding reception there. Love you guys,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
A third congratulated the longevity saying, \u201cSad but 14 years in the hospitality game is a sensational innings and you should be very proud. All the best for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks so much for all you have done for Perth dining. Things were pretty dull back then . . . and you brought so much light,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
However the statement hinted there might be something coming in the future, ending it with a cheeky: \u201cThis isn\u2019t goodbye.
