THE high-profile boss of Ford Supercars homologation team Triple Eight remains comfortable that parity was a non-issue in last weekend\u2019s Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n

Parity was the single biggest talking point throughout the Great Race build-up following aerodynamic and Centre of Gravity changes to the Chevrolet, and a last-minute one-off Ford engine tweak to help its Coyote adjust to Mount Panorama\u2019s altitude.<\/p>\n

Camaros still dominated in the speed trap, but for the second successive year it was a Mustang on top at the end of 161 racing laps.<\/p>\n

That was Dick Johnson<\/a> Racing\u2019s Brodie Kostecki<\/a>\/Todd Hazelwood<\/a>, who had been in the box seat before a bungled brake change, only to later capitalise on the fuel mishap that cost Team 18\u2019s Anton De Pasquale<\/a>\/Lee Holdsworth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

THE Bathurst 1000 once again turned out an all-time classic race, with all of the winners and losers put under the microscope in this episode of The Undercut!<\/p>\n

Triple Eight had a somewhat circumspect event on the whole, its Bathurst 1000 victory drought extending to three years after Will Brown<\/a>\/Scott Pye<\/a> placed second and Broc Feeney<\/a>\/Nick Percat<\/a> 11th.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought we had an equal shot,\u201d Jamie Whincup<\/a> told V8 Sleuth when asked to reflect on the parity situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cClearly there were differences between the cars but that\u2019s okay. It\u2019s a tall ask to get all cars identical everywhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as overall there\u2019s as much chance for any \u2013 and I thought there was an equal chance to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs it showed, it was Ford 1-2; without any errors potentially Brodie still would have won.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whincup, in his first year out of the saddle altogether, admitted it was a \u201cdisappointing showing\u201d for the #88 side of the garage which struggled with brake woes and a general lack of pace.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll certainly review that and make sure we understand it. That\u2019s not our scene, coming here and not being a contender,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
