According to MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz, the 29-year-old bantamweight is no longer on the promotion’s roster after completing his contract with a decision win over John Garza at UFC 329 in July. Basharat had publicly asked for a new deal and wanted a chance to face a top-ranked opponent. However, the reported decision comes as the UFC makes room for new fighters following another season of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Farid Basharat’s Undefeated UFC Record Was Not Enough to Secure a New Deal

Basharat entered his fight against Garza knowing it was the final bout on his UFC contract. After earning a decision victory, he made his case for staying with the promotion while speaking to UFC commentator Joe Rogan.“This was the last fight on my contract,” Basharat said. “I love this organization. I’m 16-0. I have the longest win streak in the division. I think I deserve a new contract, first and foremost. Don’t you think so?”The Afghan-British fighter also made it clear that becoming a UFC champion remained his biggest goal. He believed his unbeaten record and all-around skills had earned him a chance to face tougher competition.“I think I’m the most underrated fighter on this roster. I think I’m the most well-rounded guy on this roster, and I know I’m gonna be the champion of this weight division,” he added.Basharat was reportedly ranked No. 9 in the UFC bantamweight division before his exit. His record also included wins over Jean Matsumoto, Chris Gutierrez, Victor Hugo, and Taylor Lapilus. However, most of his UFC victories came by decision. Six of his seven wins inside the Octagon went to the judges, while his only stoppage victory was a submission against Kleydson Rodrigues in September 2023. That record does not confirm why the UFC chose not to renew his deal, but it has raised questions about how the promotion values fighters who win without frequently finishing their opponents.Basharat’s reported departure also follows the release of his older brother, Javid Basharat, in February. Javid left the UFC with a 4-2 promotional record and later joined the Professional Fighters League (PFL).Farid now faces the task of finding another home for his career. His unbeaten 16-0 professional record and experience against UFC competition could give him options, although no new deal with another promotion has been reported.

Dana White’s Contender Series Adds to UFC Roster Changes

Basharat’s reported release comes after Season 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series ended with 46 fighters earning UFC contracts. According to the supplied report, that matched the single-season record previously reached in Season 7 in 2023 and Season 9 in 2025.The Contender Series gives rising fighters a chance to earn UFC contracts through their performances. With new prospects joining the roster, the promotion has also been making decisions about its existing fighters.Basharat is not the only name to leave during this period. Michael “Venom” Page was also reported to have been released despite winning four consecutive fights and earning five victories across his six UFC appearances.Page has since signed a three-fight deal with Misfits Boxing. He claimed the agreement would pay him more than he earned during his entire UFC contract. However, there is no indication that Basharat plans to follow the same path.Basharat’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, had already urged the UFC to keep his client. Speaking to Bloody Elbow in August, Abdelaziz argued that the undefeated bantamweight had done enough to deserve another contract.“It will be crazy if they don’t sign him, honestly,” Abdelaziz said. “But I see a lot of crazy s— lately. At the end of the day, I don’t write the checks.”He also described Basharat as one of the best bantamweights in the world and said the right move would be to re-sign him.Despite that appeal, Basharat has reportedly become a free agent. At 29, he still has time to build his career in another promotion and work toward a possible UFC return in the future. For now, his next move remains unclear.

Farid Basharat gets unexpected UFC exit despite undefeated record as Dana White reshapes roster with new prospects Farid…

[570
64,63,496309,786,785,85,496312,496313,496310,496311
post-929615","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mma","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-dana-white-reshapes-ufc-roster","tag-fighting","tag-mma","tag-sports","tag-ufc-bantamweight-division","tag-ufc-contract-negotiations","tag-ufc-contracts-news","tag-unbeaten-fighters-in-ufc
["GET
