The first round of the presidential election was narrowly won by right-wing senator Fl\u00e1vio Bolsonaro, who faces incumbent President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva in the run-off.<\/p>\n
Mr Vieto said government spending and fiscal policy had been a major focus of the presidential campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The next question is, indeed there is a change in power in Brazil from 1st of January \u2026 are we going to see a different approach to fuel pricing?” Mr Vieto said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If oil and ethanol prices reached parity, mills would turn their attention back to making sugar, lifting global supply and dropping prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Brazilian real strengthened sharply after Bolsonaro’s first-round result, while Brazilian shares also rallied.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, as it all plays out in the long term, Innisfail cane farmer Josh Oldarno was hopeful the market strength would hold.<\/p>\n
