A single Division One winner has taken the full $100 million prize in Thursday\u2019s Powerball draw, making it one of the biggest individual lottery wins in Australian history.<\/p>\n
A woman from Ballina, in northern NSW, claimed the monster win.<\/p>\n
She was surrounded by family members when she received the call informing her she is now the country\u2019s equal third biggest lottery winner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the f**k! I\u2019m still in shock. No, this can\u2019t be happening!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe recently had a death in the family, and I think it\u2019s a sign from them; they\u2019re so looking after me! We\u2019ve had signs all day from them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The woman said she would use some of the money to pay off her mortgage and help family members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will help a lot of people. Not just me, but lots of my family members,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that she only purchased a ticket in the draw after all her relatives did.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey actually all put a ticket on for tonight, and I had a bit of fomo (fear of missing out). I only bought my ticket not long before the draw closed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Powerball draw 1587 produced the winning numbers 14, 24, 15, 3, 27, 32 and 30, with Powerball 16.<\/p>\n
The result came after five consecutive Powerball draws failed to produce a Division One winner, pushing the jackpot out to $100m.<\/p>\n
Up to half of Australian adults are thought to have bought a ticket for Thursday\u2019s draw.<\/p>\n
The winning entry was the only ticket in Division One nationally, securing the full $100 million prize.<\/p>\n
There were also 12 Division Two winners, who will each collect $172,306.45, sharing a combined Division Two prize pool of $2,067,677.40.<\/p>\n
The Lott spokesperson Khat McIntyre said there were \u201conly a handful\u201d of Australians who knew what it was like to win that kind of money.<\/p>\n
Before Thursday night\u2019s win, the game had reached the $100 million milestone or higher just 13 times, producing about 16 Division One winning entries in total.<\/p>\n
Recent nine-figure Powerball jackpots have included the $200 million draw in February 2024, which was shared by two winners; the $150 million draw in May 2024, won by a single ticket; the $100 million draw in August 2024, won by one ticket; and the $100 million draw in June 2025, also won by one ticket.<\/p>\n
