\u201cWe love you always and forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Burnham did not reveal Baxter\u2019s cause of death in her original post, but took to social media on Thursday local time to explain what happened to her little boy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just wanted to thank every single person that has sent me a message of kindness and prayers towards our family about our son the last few days,\u201d Ms Burnham began.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did want to come on here and talk about what happened to our son? Because I know there\u2019s a lot of questions, and I didn\u2019t answer that in my original post, because . . . this last week and a half has just been such a blur.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Burnham expalined that Baxter was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April this year, after the four-year-old\u2019s left eye began crossing uncontrollably.<\/p>\n
Despite an initial diagnosis of strabismus, an MRI revealed Baxter had diffuse midline glioma, which his mother said was \u201cshocking\u201d for the family given the four-year-old \u201ccouldn\u2019t have been happier or healthier\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c(It) is essentially the worst type of brain tumour that you can have, unfortunately, because it\u2019s in the brainstem, and that\u2019s inoperable, meaning it\u2019s incurable,\u201d Ms Burnham said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe unfortunate part about the brainstem is it controls all of your neurological functions, so it literally physically cannot be operated on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Little Baxter underwent surgery to remove some of the tumour, as well as proton radiation.<\/p>\n

Ms Burnham said she and her husband looked for \u201canything and everything\u201d to treat their son, including several trips to Europe for treatment and red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen baths.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe talked to every doctor in the country,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that\u2019s the hardest part because it\u2019s so difficult to watch your child going through something like this, and and you\u2019re literally helpless.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s every parent\u2019s worst nightmare, and we\u2019ve been living in this nightmare for six months.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Burnham said she is \u201cso proud\u201d of how Baxter dealt with his illness, saying she wanted to spread awareness and answer questions for families going through a similar ordeal.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was so strong and such a fighter, and literally fought until the very last day . . . He had a smile on his face and just was the happiest guy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know that in my heart that he is in a much better place right now because no child should be suffering like that . . . that gives me comfort as a mom, just knowing that he\u2019s no longer in pain.<\/p>\n
