During their meeting in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul<\/a> and his Portuguese<\/a> counterpart, Paulo Rangel, reaffirmed their countries’ steadfast support for Ukraine.<\/p>\n They also stated that Russia had shown no willingness to negotiate by intensifying its attacks.<\/p>\n “We \u200cagree \u200bthat accommodating the aggressor Putin in the\u00a0current situation would be absolutely the \u200bwrong signal,” Wadephul said.<\/p>\n “In this difficult geopolitical \u200bsituation, we share a common\u00a0vision: \u200bthe \u200cdefence of multilateralism, the promotion of peace and our unwavering solidarity \u200cwith Ukraine,” Rangel said.<\/p>\n Wadephul also said that recent comments by US\u00a0President Donald Trump should be viewed in the context of the final phase of the US\u00a0election campaign.<\/p>\n “I believe we must look at the core of what the United States continues to do, and that is support Ukraine together with us,” he said.<\/p>\n What else did ministers say?<\/p>\n Wadephul also warned against Iran\u2019s activities. He said Europe was \u201cin Iran\u2019s crosshairs.\u201d On Thursday, the Hamburg Higher Regional Court sentenced two men to several years in prison for planning attacks on behalf of an Iranian intelligence agency.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will not tolerate Iran\u2019s hostile activities, which are directed against Jews here in Germany and our open society as a whole,\u201d said Wadephul. \u201cWe will respond to this as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
