Doncic finished with 15 points on 4-10 shooting, committing five turnovers in just 19 minutes, while Reaves scored 19 points but needed 11 shots and 12 free throws to get there.

Denver, meanwhile, shot 58.2% from the field and received balanced production across its lineup.

Nikola Jokic barely missed a shot, going 7-8 from the field and 3-4 from beyond the arc to finish with 17 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Jamal Murray led Denver with 21 points and six assists, while Christian Braun added 16 points and six rebounds.

The Nuggets also got valuable contributions from their bench, with Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jaden Hardy leading the Lakers’ reserves in scoring.

Los Angeles shot just 42.7% from the field and turned the ball over 14 times. The Lakers had a few bright spots, particularly Mamukelashvili’s efficient 15-point performance and Dalton Knecht’s 11 points, but the starting lineup’s struggles proved too much to overcome.

Sandro Mamukelashvili: A

Game Stats: 15 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 5-10 FG, 3-7 3-PT FG, 2-2 FT, 21 MIN

Mamukelashvili was arguably the Lakers’ best performer on the night. He scored 15 points on 5-10 shooting, including three three-pointers, while adding eight rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block. Most impressively, he committed no turnovers in 21 minutes. His plus-six rating was a welcome contrast to the struggles elsewhere in the rotation. When the Lakers needed energy and efficient offense, Mamukelashvili delivered.

Ziaire Williams: B+

Game Stats: 14 PTS, 5-6 FG, 2-2 3-PT FG, 2-2 FT, 11 MIN

Williams was one of the few Lakers who made his minutes count. He scored 14 points in just 11 minutes, shooting 5-6 from the field and a perfect 2-2 from three-point range. He also converted both free throws. Williams didn’t contribute much beyond scoring, but his efficiency was outstanding. It’s fair to wonder whether he deserved a longer look in a game where the Lakers’ offense struggled to find consistency.

Jaden Hardy: B+

Game Stats: 13 PTS, 1 REB, 5-9 FG, 3-5 3-PT FG, 14 MIN

Hardy gave the Lakers a much-needed scoring boost, producing 13 points on 5-9 shooting in 14 minutes. He hit three three-pointers, grabbed a rebound, and committed no turnovers. His scoring was one of the brighter individual performances in a disappointing loss, although he didn’t get to the free-throw line. Hardy made a convincing case for a bigger offensive role in games when the Lakers’ primary scorers struggle.

Dalton Knecht: B

Game Stats: 11 PTS, 2 REB, 3 AST, 4-9 FG, 3-6 3-PT FG, 28 MIN

Knecht provided a useful scoring contribution off the bench, finishing with 11 points on 4-9 shooting. He knocked down three three-pointers in six attempts and didn’t commit a turnover. His three fouls were a downside, but his perimeter shooting helped the Lakers find some offense. He couldn’t turn the game around, though, and finished with a minus-three plus-minus.

Bronny James: C+

Game Stats: 3 PTS, 2 AST, 1-3 FG, 0-1 3-PT FG, 1-2 FT, 5 MIN

James scored three points and dished out two assists in five minutes. He shot 1-3 from the field and made one of his two free throws. It was a short appearance with limited opportunity, but he showed some willingness to create for teammates.

Walker Kessler: C

Game Stats: 6 PTS, 6 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL, 2 BLK, 1 TOV, 2-8 FG, 0-1 3-PT FG, 2-2 FT, 31 MIN

Kessler finished with six points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks, but his offensive efficiency was poor. He made just two of eight field-goal attempts, and his minus-21 plus-minus was among the worst on the team. The defensive numbers offer some encouragement, but Denver’s interior attack clearly put the Lakers in difficult positions. Kessler needed to provide more resistance and finish better around the rim.

Matisse Thybulle: C

Game Stats: 7 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 1 TOV, 3-7 FG, 1-4 3-PT FG, 25 MIN

Thybulle supplied seven points, five rebounds, and three assists, shooting 3-7 from the field. He added a steal and made one three-pointer, but the Lakers needed more impact from their starting wing on both ends. His minus-19 plus-minus reflected a difficult night against Denver’s efficient offense. Thybulle wasn’t the main problem, but he didn’t do enough to change the game’s direction.

Austin Reaves: C

Game Stats: 19 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 6 TOV, 5-11 FG, 1-7 3-PT FG, 8-12 FT, 31 MIN

Reaves led the Lakers’ starters with 19 points, but his performance was far from efficient. He shot 5-11 from the field and just 1-7 from three-point range, then missed four of his 12 free throws. His five assists were useful, but six turnovers wiped out much of that playmaking value. Reaves has to be more reliable with the ball, especially when Doncic isn’t having his best night. The Lakers needed his scoring, but they also needed better shot selection and ball security.

Luka Doncic: C

Game Stats: 15 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 5 TOV, 4-10 FG, 3-7 3-PT FG, 4-5 FT, 19 MIN

Doncic’s 15 points look respectable at first glance, but the overall performance was disappointing. He shot 4-10 from the field and 3-7 from three, while committing five turnovers in only 19 minutes. He did add four rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block, but Denver made life difficult for him and repeatedly disrupted the Lakers’ offensive flow. The short playing time limits the sample, but Doncic’s turnovers and minus-four plus-minus made this a night to forget for the superstar.

Kevon Looney: C

Game Stats: 2 REB, 1 AST, 8 MIN

Looney didn’t score, but he grabbed two rebounds and handed out an assist in eight minutes. He made no mistakes with the ball and finished with a team-best plus-five among the Lakers who played. There wasn’t much offensive production to evaluate, so he gets a C.

Jake LaRavia: C-

Game Stats: 3 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST, 1-5 FG, 1-2 3-PT FG, 23 MIN

LaRavia finished with three points, two rebounds, and two assists in 23 minutes. He made just one of five field-goal attempts, though he connected from three-point range. The positive was that he took care of the ball and finished with a plus-three rating. Still, the Lakers needed more scoring and efficiency from a rotation player who played 23 minutes. A C- is fair.

Rafael Castro: N/A

Game Stats: 2 REB, 0-2 FG, 5 MIN

Castro played five minutes and missed both of his field-goal attempts, finishing without a point. He collected two rebounds, including one on the offensive glass, but committed two fouls in his limited appearance. There wasn’t much opportunity to make an impact, so an N/A is fair.

Quentin Grimes: N/A

Game Stats: 1 REB, 1 AST, 0-1 FG, 7 MIN

Grimes struggled to get anything going offensively, scoring no points in seven minutes. He missed his only field-goal attempt and added one rebound and one assist. His limited role makes the performance difficult to judge, but there was no spark and thus earns an N/A.

The Los Angeles Lakers had no answers for the Denver Nuggets, suffering a 121-106 defeat after Luka Doncic…

[574
64,63,726,85
post-931205","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-basketball","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-basketball","tag-sports
["GET
