We’ve seen premium brands like Belkin jump into the scene, while trusty favourites like Powerwave, Turtle Beach, 8BitDo, and more are here as usual, too. But then there are the random character, keyboard-mash brands you see on Amazon.

JSAUX is one brand that came up again and again. We’ve seen it around for a while but never tried any of its products. When they reached out for us to try their range of Switch 2 accessories, we decided to give them a go. They’re always showing up, they’re cheap, but not suspiciously so, so let’s take a look. We were pleasantly surprised.

Split Every Day Case for Switch 2

When I started collecting all the accessories we’ve reviewed and trying to figure out the best ones for our guide, I had a shortage of big console grips. Big-time handheld players love them, and there’s a lot out there, but a lot of them are from the US, and when you add shipping to them, it’s hardly economical. There’s a tonne on Amazon and eBay, but how many are good for you, and also good for your Switch 2 console? If you’re slotting your console into a grip, you don’t want it to get scratched or be scratched as you play with it.

The matte screen protector (below) was not fitted at the time of this photo.

When I first opened the Split Everyday Case, I was a bit overwhelmed with all the parts in there. There’s something you slide over the tablet part of the console, bits for the Joy-Con, a cover for the front, and some sort of wedge thing that I couldn’t figure out what it did. Once you get rid of all the plastic and separate it all out, it makes sense.

I’ve been rocking it for the last little while, and because it also works while docked (it is a little tighter, but nothing dangerous), there’s been no need to take it off. I’ve found that having both the screen and the rest of the console protected has meant I’ve been less worried about my two-year-old yanking the dock off the TV cabinet or my TV table. The case itself isn’t too heavy, the added Joy-Con grips provide a nice grip without adding much weight, and the snap-on back is also quite light. The front, however, does add some weight. At least you’re not holding it, but when trying to put it in my laptop bag, you can definitely notice the extra weight, and it takes up a bit more space as well.

Unlike some other cases that let the Switch 2’s stand poke through, this one covers the entire back. So, that thing I couldn’t figure out what it was is actually a stand, which they didn’t have to include but is a nice addition as well. With the front cover off, all of the system’s ports are available, as are the fans. When the front is on, everything is covered up aside from the hole for the top USB-C charger. It is a little worrying that it covers up the exhaust, say if you didn’t turn the console off or it woke up in your bag (which, if locked, shouldn’t be too big a problem), but stranger things have happened.

Sometimes I’ll get things to review, use them for a little while, then take them off and add them to the pile of things to give to my nephews and nieces. But this case has stayed on since I got it, and I’m going to keep it for a good while. It protects my Switch from my two-year-old, who loves seeing things on the ground, and from me, who drops things all the time. The Joy-Con grips, combined with the charging grip, also make for a great ‘second’ controller. All for a budget price.

Available from Amazon for $39.99 AUD

Matte Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Matte screen protectors are a relatively rare phenomenon — you can walk into any Kmart in the country and grab a glossy screen protector for your phone for $8, but you’d be hard pressed to find a matte screen protector at any physical store. I became a matte screen protector convert a few years ago for my phone, but I didn’t even consider that you could get one for a Switch or Switch 2.

JSAUX’s matte-finish tempered glass screen protector is just about as good as you could hope for with a screen protector. It’s sturdy and very scratch-resistant, comes with all the tools you need to safely and easily install it, and looks very nice and professional once installed.

The installation process is fairly straightforward, though as with any screen protector, not without its frustrations. JSAUX’s protector comes with a frame – a must nowadays for easy installation – to snap onto your Switch 2 console, along with a wet wipe, a dry wipe, and a sticker to help remove any specks of dust that remain.

I used the tried and true “steam up the bathroom” method, which helps reduce airborne dust, and unfortunately my first attempt didn’t go so well. I wasn’t careful enough with my dust removal so I was left with quite a few distracting bubbles that would not rub out. Thankfully, the package came with two screen protectors (great if you mess up like me, or if you want to go halves with a mate), and after a bit of self-inflicted fiddling I managed to install it just fine without any flaws.

The end result is frankly stunning. The matte finish is fantastic for reducing glare, effectively cutting out roughly 90% of visible glare from the screen in most lighting conditions, including in direct sunlight. You can still see light sources reflected if they’re pointed right at the screen, but even when surrounded by extremely bright studio lighting, it’s enough to leave the screen visible.

As with any matte screen protector, though, there are three major caveats. The first is that the matte finish makes dust particles trapped under the screen much more visible, so you have to be absolutely certain there’s not a single mote of dust when you’re installing. The second is that the finish reduces the vibrancy of the display somewhat — not significantly so, mind you, given the Switch 2 screen is already extremely vibrant, but enough to make a noticeable difference. Finally, a byproduct of the matte finish is that it introduces somewhat of a film grain effect to the display, most noticeable in bright and white scenes. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means, and your brain learns to ignore it pretty quickly, but it’s worth noting.

If you’re in the market for a matte screen protector, it’s hard to recommend anything other than this one. Others might match the experience, but it would be difficult, if not outright impossible, to surpass it. They take a bit of getting used to, but if you spend a lot of time gaming out in the wild, it’s worth checking out.

Available from Amazon for $13.99 AUD

Charging Grip for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo’s own Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip for the Switch 2 is the Rolls-Royce of these things. It’s the most ergonomic and has this nice transparent design, but it is really expensive. It’s 50 bucks for a grip that just passes through power.

JSAUX’s is about half the price, and while it doesn’t have the same ergonomics in the form of moulded grips, it does hold the Joy-Con apart at a slight angle. Now, is that good for you? Who can say, but it feels nice enough to use, it’s nice and light, and you can chuck it into almost any case as it’s really slim.

Available from Amazon for $24.99 AUD

Game Card Case for Nintendo Switch 2

We’ve checked out a few of these in the past. Some of them are really fancy, and some of them are too fancy and are hard to open or even get games out of. JSAUX’s Game Card Case is on the less fancy side of things, but it just does what you’re asking of it.

Holding Switch and Switch 2 games, it’s nice and compact, with space for 40 games as well. The plastic on the outside is a little thin, but the inside, where you want the protection, is nice and soft. It’s hefty, too, at 225g. It’s no slouch. A simple, subtle design, and it’s cheap. Can’t ask for more.

Available from Amazon for $26.99 AUD

Daniel Vuckovic and Oliver Brandt contributed to this review.

[6
64,63,105
post-931281","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-technology
["GET
