{"id":931395,"date":"2026-10-17T11:24:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T11:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/931395\/"},"modified":"2026-10-17T11:24:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T11:24:13","slug":"aussie-hopes-take-a-real-battering-at-lpga-shanghai-australian-golf-digest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/931395\/","title":{"rendered":"Aussie hopes take a real battering at LPGA Shanghai \u2013 Australian Golf Digest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grace Kim\u2019s hopes of victory have taken a real hammering after the third round of the Buick LPGA Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian major winner had hung tough to remain firmly in the mix at the halfway mark of the opening event of the LPGA Tour\u2019s all-important Asian swing, but her chances shrunk after a disappointing third round on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>After opening with a four-under 68, followed by an even-par 72 on Friday, Kim carded a three-over 75 on Saturday to be tied for seventh, one under the card.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Kim had three bogeys on the front nine and one on the back, her only birdie of the round coming at the par-5 eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her position on the leaderboard, the 2025 Evian Championship winner enters the final round eight shots behind Hye-Jin Choi.<\/p>\n<p>The South Korean star maintained her tournament-long lead by shooting a three-under 69 on Saturday to take a one-stroke advantage into the final round.<\/p>\n<p>Choi had four front-nine birdies at Sheshan Golf Club.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She led by three strokes after the first round and by two after the second to set up a 54-hole total of nine-under 207.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow South Korean Amy Yang shot 68 and was in second place, followed by Japan\u2019s Ruoning Yin (67) in third, two behind Choi.<\/p>\n<p>Choi is seeking her first win on the LPGA Tour to add to her 12 victories in her native South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1792236253_693_.jpeg\" alt=\"South Korea's Hye-Jin Choi\"\/>South Korea\u2019s Hye-Jin Choi is searching for her first win on the LPGA Tour.
