Reece Walsh<\/a> has admitted Michael Maguire<\/a> wasn’t too pleased with his “cheeky” try assist for Broncos teammate Kobe Hetherington on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The fullback was at his blistering best in the 46-12 win over Newcastle<\/a>, finishing with two linebreaks and two try assists, as well as crossing for a try of his own.<\/p>\n

However, there was one moment from Walsh that had plenty of people talking. <\/p>\n

During the first half at McDonald Jones Stadium, Walsh found himself in open space and was over the line without a single Knights defender anywhere near him.<\/p>\n

But instead of planting it down himself, Walsh quickly turned around and looked for Hetherington looming up in support, gifting the forward a try in his 100th game.<\/p>\n

“Cheeky moment there, a try for the milestone man,” Warren Smith said on Fox League.<\/p>\n

While it was a moment that plenty saw the funny side of – especially after Walsh ended up scoring a try in the second half onslaught – not everyone was on board.<\/p>\n

Former coach Kevin Walters<\/a> was quick to condemn the light-hearted moment and explained it could have come back to bite Walsh.<\/p>\n

“I’m not a fan of that,” Walters said at half time.<\/p>\n

“Throwing the ball back in the in-goal. I don’t agree with it. What if he dropped it? Then he [Walsh] is even more in the headlines then.”<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old was asked about the incident post-game and admitted that coach Maguire might not have been the biggest fan either.<\/p>\n

“He was into me a few weeks ago saying he doesn’t get many tries,” Walsh said.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think Madge was too happy when I done that. We’ll leave that one when where it was and not talk about it again.”<\/p>\n

Walsh’s form over the past fortnight has helped ensure the Broncos will feature in the finals series, despite being without first-choice halves Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam.<\/p>\n

The fullback’s combination with Kotoni Staggs caused plenty of headaches for a Newcastle outfit struggling to avoid the wooden spoon.<\/p>\n
