Jacqui Lambie has hit back at Pauline Hanson’s “nastiness” after a One Nation cartoon mocked the independent senator’s health condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Senator Lambie gave an emotional speech in the Senate<\/a> in August, revealing she had a vaginal and bladder prolapse, which required surgery and five months of leave from parliament.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The One Nation cartoon is one in a series of satirical videos that mock politicians and take aim at recent political events.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The latest cartoon uses Senator Lambie’s vaginal prolapse as a punchline.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tasmanian senator said people were welcome to watch Senator Hanson’s videos “if you want more hatred, more spitefulness in your life”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“But what I do know is this: decent leaders don’t stir up hatred, pushing us towards bloody anarchy, because that’s exactly what she’s doing,” Senator Lambie told ABC’s Radio National.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Senator Lambie said she would not be demanding One Nation remove the video, but called on Senator Hanson’s team, especially the men, to ask her to remove it immediately.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“If you think it’s a laughable matter about women having problems with their reproductive system, then you be my guest and you stand by her,” she said.<\/p>\n

“But seriously, enough is enough.”<\/p>\n

Senator Lambie had previously said the condition was directly linked to back injuries she sustained in the army.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other politicians have publicly condemned the One Nation cartoon, including independent MP Monique Ryan and Queensland Labor MP Kara Cook.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both praised Senator Lambie’s courage in talking about a deeply personal health issue to raise awareness and help other women with the condition.<\/p>\n

In a post on social media, Dr Ryan said pelvic organ prolapse affected about one in 12 women and was often linked to physical strain, heavy lifting or past childbirth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It’s uncomfortable and debilitating,” she wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“One Jacqui Lambie is worth 1,000 Pauline Hansons.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms Cook said ridiculing Senator Lambie was not on and that “politics can be tough without being cruel”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This isn’t clever satire. It’s personal humiliation dressed up as political commentary,” Ms Cook wrote.<\/p>\n

“We should be able to disagree fiercely, challenge ideas and hold each other accountable without resorting to personal humiliation.”<\/p>\n

It is not the first time One Nation’s cartoons have sparked a political firestorm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last month, Liberal frontbencher Andrew Hastie slammed One Nation for a cartoon<\/a> that repeatedly described him as a “traitor”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Hastie, a veteran like Senator Lambie, criticised Senator Hanson and called for the cartoon to be removed, a move that was backed widely across the political spectrum.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ABC has contacted One Nation for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Labor’s Industry Minister Tim Ayres said he was “shocked at how low these One Nation people will go” and accused the party of importing an overseas style of politics that denigrated people.<\/p>\n

He said tens of thousands of women lived with similar health conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
