Actor Jesse Eisenberg has spoken about how damning his Razzie award for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was for his acting career.<\/p>\n
The Now You See Me alum, who’s best known for playing highly intelligent, neurotic, and socially awkward characters, says he was struggling to get parts after winning a Razzie (film\u2019s least coveted award) for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t get into movie studio parts anymore because I had won a Raspberry Award from [acting in the] Batman movie,\u201d Eisenberg said according to Variety at the BFI London Film Festival.<\/p>\n
The Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) satirically honour the worst films of the year.<\/p>\n
Eisenberg won worst supporting actor for his part as frenzied Lex Luther in the 2016 Zack Snyder film.<\/p>\n
\u201cActing is just this unstable, awful industry where you are either on the treadmill and you\u2019re doing okay and you\u2019re running up or you are yesterday\u2019s news and it\u2019s awful. And if you\u2019re a paranoid person like me, you see it way in advance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eisenberg has been diagnosed with OCD and also suffers with depression in addition to anxiety.<\/p>\n
When asked during an interview with the Evening Standard if his OCD interferes with his acting, he said he actually finds it cathartic to \u201cchannel [his] personal anxieties into a role.\u201d<\/p>\n
He says the reason he started writing movies was because he was floundering to \u201ckeep [his] career afloat.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eisenberg said he learned from the poor reception and intends to stay away from superhero movies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe industry tells you what it wants and if you want a career in the arts you have to follow the things that you\u2019re being told are liked,\u201d Eisenberg said.<\/p>\n
Eisenberg has also known mammoth success, receiving an Oscar nomination for his role as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n
Ironically, Eisenberg himself \u201cstays away from\u201d social media.<\/p>\n
The Debut is his most recent film which Eisenberg both wrote and directed, starring Julianne Moore.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s inspired by his own experience with central New Jersey community theatre in the 90s which he credits with prying him out of his shell.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was so shy, I was depressed, and I didn\u2019t have friends. And then I walked into this community theatre when I was seven years old, and suddenly everybody was so nice and they hugged me,\u201d he shared at a press conference last
