{"id":935629,"date":"2026-10-21T02:18:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-21T02:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/935629\/"},"modified":"2026-10-21T02:18:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T02:18:13","slug":"supercars-gold-coast-tim-blanchard-at-peace-with-james-goldings-finals-miss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/935629\/","title":{"rendered":"Supercars Gold Coast: Tim Blanchard at peace with James Golding&#8217;s finals miss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IF not for a critical miscalculation, the Blanchard Racing Team would be represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1192-James-Golding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Golding<\/a> in the Supercars finals series this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Golding and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1189-Richie-Stanaway\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richie Stanaway<\/a> took the chequered flag seventh in last month\u2019s Bend 500, only to be disqualified for a breach of minimum driver lap requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Bathurst bringing the \u2018regular season\u2019 to an end, Golding currently sits 13th in the standings at 154 points back from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1181-Jack-Le Brocq\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Le Brocq<\/a>, who was the last playoffs qualifier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the most basic terms, the DSQ cost Golding 182 points and therefore a finals spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BRT boss Tim Blanchard was in Germany on business when the Tailem Bend disaster occurred, but he insisted the team had moved on from its heartache by the time Bathurst arrived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe dealt with that two weeks ago (i.e. prior to Bathurst),\u201d Blanchard told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s just about finishing the year strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/MW-Blanchard-207A7615-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-268551\"  \/>Tim Blanchard. Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it is now officially out of the main game championship hunt, BRT does have a golden chance to win its maiden title in Super2 where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2740-Lochie-Dalton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lochie Dalton<\/a> commands a 114-point lead with two rounds remaining.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s one race at a time at the moment, the old saying,\u201d said Blanchard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLochie is driving well and we\u2019ll just keep chipping away at it.
