<\/p>\nBoth Ride to Work Day and the United Energy Around the Bay made for a busy week for riders last week and not only on the pedals.<\/p>\n
Both events saw Gimme 5! Campaign\u00a0volunteers sharing details of the campaign with participants and an uptick in emails sent to state election candidates. The campaign keeps the momentum going this week with rides and meetings in the electorates of both Caulfield and Albert Park.<\/p>\n
The Gimme 5! Campaign asks for 5% of Victoria\u2019s transport budget to be spent on developing the strategic cycling corridor network and has seen residents from across Melbourne and regional Victoria email their candidates to ask them to commit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Saturday 24th\u00a0October Glen Eira BUG are hosting a family-friendly community ride exploring some local bike routes\u2014and the gaps\u2014in the Caulfield electorate. You can find all the details here<\/a>\u00a0so that you can join them.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sunday October 25th\u00a0sees Port Phillip BUG hosting a community ride exploring the improvements needed around Lorimer Street to make it a safer route for people on bikes. Register to join the ride here<\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n On Sunday afternoon a community meeting held at St Kilda Library will give community groups and residents from both the Port Phillip and Caulfield electorates the chance to share their stories about the need for dedicated funding for safe cycling infrastructure. State election candidates have been invited to come and listen and provide a brief response so make sure you grab the family and come along!
