Conor McGregor\u2019s long awaied comeback was spoiled by a devasting injury just seconds into his fight at UFC 329 but according to one of his closest friends, \u201cThe Notorious\u201d is more determined than ever before to return to action.<\/p>\n
Dillon Danis, who has counted McGregor as a friend and training partner for several years, offered an update on the Irish superstar as he continues to recover after having ACL reconstruction surgery on his knee. While the nding of his fight with Max Holloway was understandably upsetting, Danis promisis that if anybody can go through that and bounce back it\u2019s the former two-diviison UFC champion.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously after the fight you could only imagine how someone could feel coming [back] afer five years and that happening that fast,\u201d Danis told MMA Fighting\u2019s Mike Heck. \u201cHe was in a dark place. Any human being will. I\u2019m not going into details what we talked about because that\u2019s obviously personal but as a human, how would you feel? The biggest comeback and that happens.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow hiis head\u2019s a lot better. He has a 24\/7 nurse with him. He\u2019s doing all the exercises. He\u2019s isolated himself in L.A. doing all the right things for his knee and he\u2019s focused on coming back. There\u2019s something about Conor that [when] he puts his mind towards something, he gets it done. There\u2019s no one that will tell him he\u2019s not fighting again, you\u2019re never going to be the same, all the bullshit that everybody says, when that guy has his head on something it\u2019s blinders\u201d<\/p>\n
With one fight remaining on his current UFC contract, McGregor has already stated several times that he\u2019s plotting his comeback with hopes to compete again as soon as International Fight Week in 2027, which is typically in July.<\/p>\n
Obviously nothing has been offered or booked but Danis is fully confident that McGregor is doing everything possible to make that comeback.<\/p>\n
