Former Rays owner Stuart Sternberg, who sold the team a year ago<\/a>, is watching the team\u2019s World Series run with joy and a touch of \u201clonging\u201d while praising the new ownership group for securing a new ballpark deal<\/a> and preserving the organization\u2019s core, according to Marc Topkin of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. The baseball operations department led by President Erik Neander, manager Kevin Cash and \u201cmuch of the business side staff from Sternberg\u2019s era\u201d remain in place. Sternberg said that he is \u201cmost pleased for them, many of whom are longtime employees.\u201d But Sternberg added that there is \u201ca dramatic difference\u201d in not being involved on a daily basis. Sternberg said, \u201cThere\u2019s just joy and happiness for all the people there. And the fans — people are enjoying it.\u201d Sternberg also had \u201chigh praise for the new ownership group<\/a>\u201d for being able to complete a deal for a ballpark in Tampa, \u201csomething Sternberg explored unsuccessfully several times during his tenure.\u201d Sternberg: \u201cThey just did an amazing job to help cement the future of the franchise there. And to do it as clean as they did in a reasonable period of time is nothing short of miraculous.\u201d Topkin noted some people in Sternberg\u2019s inner circle are \u201curging him to attend one of the upcoming World Series game.\u201d Sternberg: \u201cI\u2019ll see how the schedules and things line up. But I\u2019m also a little superstitious. And I don\u2019t want to \u2018F\u2019 up a good thing. \u2026 The last thing in the world that I\u2019d need to have happen is to show up, and the team lose or whatever\u201d (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 10\/21<\/a>). <\/p>\n

DOUBLE THE FUN: In Tampa, Wright & Moske reported officials from St. Petersburg and Tampa both said that their respective cities are \u201cplanning to host victory parades\u201d if the Rays win its first World Series.
