{"id":937524,"date":"2026-10-23T00:58:17","date_gmt":"2026-10-23T00:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/937524\/"},"modified":"2026-10-23T00:58:17","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T00:58:17","slug":"will-brown-lauds-supercars-finals-format-as-gold-coast-500-kickstarts-2026-title-chase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/937524\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Brown lauds Supercars finals format as Gold Coast 500 kickstarts 2026 title chase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE last driver to win the Supercars championship prior to the implementation of a decisive finals series says the category is unequivocally better off for now having a playoffs format.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1292-Will-Brown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Brown<\/a> clinched the 2024 title in his first season at Triple Eight, before Supercars\u2019 big gamechanger took effect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was Brown\u2019s teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1545-Broc-Feeney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Broc Feeney<\/a> who lost out after dominating much of 2025, as a red-hot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-330-Chaz-Mostert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chaz Mostert<\/a> stormed to his maiden crown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, Brown enters the Gold Coast as the third seed and the form man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBeing the highest-scoring car (in the last three events), it gives us confidence going into these rounds,\u201d he told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/MW-Brown-207A3608-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-268735\"  \/>Will Brown finished runner-up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-45-Scott-Pye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scott Pye<\/a> in the Bathurst 1000. Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI believe that we can work our way through to the final four on speed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut the biggest thing is the weather changes it up, crashes, there\u2019s all of this stuff that this finals system brings that is why I think the finals system is a great thing for the sport. It brings hype, anything can happen out there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ll try to keep our nose clean and do the job.
