Dance Moms<\/a> star Abby Lee Miller<\/a> has called out an airline after what she claims was an \u201cawful\u201d experience involving her wheelchair.<\/p>\n

Miller, 61, claims American Airlines returned her wheelchair \u201cin pieces\u201d, leaving her without a way to get home.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerican Airlines, do better,\u201d she told Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you bring somebody\u2019s chair up at 2am in pieces, and lay it there, how did they think I was even going to get home?\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to go home with a push chair. The guys who handle the luggage downstairs had to push me up into a van,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She called the experience \u201cabsolutely awful\u201d.<\/p>\n

nine.com.au has contacted American Airlines for comment.<\/p>\n

Miller had previously called out the airline in 2019, alleging she fell out of her wheelchair at Pittsburgh International Airport during a transfer between chairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHelp! \u2018I\u2019ve fallen and I can\u2019t get up\u2019 isn\u2019t that the truth?\u201d Miller captioned an Instagram photo of herself on the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shouldn\u2019t have had to ask for someone to call the paramedics and maybe the @americanair gate manager should\u2019ve at the very least asked if I was OK?\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Miller has been a wheelchair user since 2018 after being diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She had an emergency spinal operation to address a tumour and was left temporarily paralysed from the neck down.<\/p>\n

While she is cancer-free and regained her ability to walk short distances with aids, Miller relies on a wheelchair for long-term mobility.<\/p>\n

In 2023, she told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> the public doesn\u2019t see the amount of work it takes to get her prepared for a day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe getting out of bed and all your bathroom things and stuff that people don\u2019t like to really talk about,\u201d she said of the hardest tasks. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they see me out and I\u2019m in make-up, my hair\u2019s done, I\u2019m moving, I\u2019m grooving, they\u2019re like, \u2018She\u2019s great. She\u2019s fine.\u2019 They don\u2019t really see what happens before that.\u201d<\/p>\n
