Is that the lady that killed her babies?\u201d<\/p>\n Instead of landing a joke, Carr adopted a serious tone to argue that public outrage often ignores the realities of mental illness.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that it\u2019s a very complex thing to talk to, because I think most people see the headline \u2018Woman kills babies\u2019 and they go, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s a monster, we should kill her,\u2019\u201d Carr said to the audience.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause they don\u2019t understand what postnatal depression is, and they don\u2019t understand what psychosis is.\u201d<\/p>\n Carr went on to claim that many women who have struggled with post-partum mental health feel a sense of empathy toward Ms Clancy\u2019s case.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of women that have looked over the cliff that she fell down feel an empathy because they feel like that could have been them,\u201d Carr said. <\/p>\n \u201cShe went mad \u2026 She\u2019s not evil, she went f**king mad, and a terrible thing happened.\u201d<\/p>\n He then sparked further debate by taking aim at double standards in media coverage, adding that \u201cif a man had killed three kids, it wouldn\u2019t have made the local f**king paper.
