This weekend\u2019s Grand Prix of Australia will be the last for Miller, who will depart MotoGP at the end of 2026 to join the WorldSBK grid with Yamaha.<\/p>\n
Following practice on Friday, a ceremony was held at Milly Corner to unveil the #43 in its new colours. <\/p>\n
The bike features Miller\u2019s iconic number and \u201cThank you, Phillip Island\u201d around it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, this journey probably should have ended about 15 years ago, and somehow we\u2019ve been able to achieve so many amazing things, all of us together,\u201d said Miller.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t have done it without each and every one of you, so thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a social media post, Miller acknowledged the special edition livery.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot sure how I\u2019m supposed to keep it together this weekend, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cA pretty bloody special surprise from the team with this livery for my final MotoGP race here at the Island. Honestly means the world to me. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo have my family, my girls, my mates and all these legends around me for one last home GP is something I\u2019ll never forget. Feeling pretty damn lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miller will be hoping for rain come Saturday to have a shot of victory. <\/p>\n
Aprilia and Ducati have been the manufacturers to beat, though the hopes of the Desmosedici largely rest with its champion rider Marc Marquez.<\/p>\n
Practice at Phillip Island was a dramatic affair for Miller, who crashed after posting his fastest time in the first practice at Doohan Corner.<\/p>\n
In the opening minutes of the second practice he crashed at Siberia.<\/p>\n
In the end, he was 12th fastest in the second hit-out and missed the automatic berth into the second leg of qualifying.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was an eventful day, that\u2018s for sure,\u201d said Miller.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning, the feeling was pretty good from the start, although the track is bumpier than it was last year. <\/p>\n
\u201cI knew there were some tricky spots, but when I hit the bumps, the bike started moving around and I lost the front. <\/p>\n
\u201cI ended up tumbling through the gravel, and my ankles were a bit sore afterwards, but thankfully, I was able to get back out this afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe feeling was good again, and my pace was decent on my own. The time attacks were also promising, but I\u2018m not completely happy with how they went. <\/p>\n
\u201cIn the end, we missed out on the top 10, which means we\u2018ll have to go through Q1 tomorrow. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know where I could have been faster, so it\u2018s frustrating, but we have the pace to do better and we\u2018ll give it another go tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Free Practice 2 at Phillip Island gets underway at 10:10am AEDT followed immediately by qualifying at 10:40am AEDT.<\/p>\n
