But his position is at risk ahead of Sunday\u2019s visit of Bournemouth to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
United sit 13th in the table after their worst start in the Premier League era. Carrick\u2019s men were also dumped out of the League Cup by Brighton and have lost two of their opening three Champions League games.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re in a moment where it\u2019s not gone well so we need to show exactly what it means. Respect this football club, respect what it takes to be here, respect what it takes to win, what you have to do to win,\u201d Carrick said in his pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve kind of lost our way a little bit if I\u2019m totally honest and we\u2019ll get it back. I\u2019m totally confident we\u2019ll get it back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Carrick\u2019s tactics were publicly questioned by Fernandes after the Como defeat for being too passive.<\/p>\n
Despite being repeatedly probed on whether last season\u2019s Premier League player of the year will retain the armband, Carrick refused to clarify the Portuguese midfielder\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Fernandes\u2019s criticism came just over a week after defender Lisandro Martinez took aim at the club\u2019s board for a lack of investment in the transfer market.<\/p>\n
Carrick is just the latest manager struggling to turn around the ailing fortunes of the 20-time English champions since his former boss Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.<\/p>\n
United have not won either the Premier League or Champions League in the 13 years since under seven different managers.<\/p>\n
Appointed on a short-term deal in January, Carrick led the Red Devils back into the Champions League for the first time in three years with a third-placed finish in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
But their only two victories in 11 matches in all competitions this season have come against newly-promoted Ipswich and Azerbaijani side Sabah.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecently we haven\u2019t had a good time. I totally accept that. We had five months of relative success in a spell where I was happy with a lot of things we were doing as a team,\u201d Carrick said in an opening address to his media duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe supporters have to make the effort and spend the money to come and watch us. To have the feeling we all had after the game was a tough moment.\u201d <\/p>\n
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler said he had \u201ctoo much respect\u201d for Carrick to comment on speculation he is among the candidates to become the next United manager.<\/p>\n
Hurzeler\u2019s side have plundered 23 goals in their opening seven Premier League games to sit third in the table.<\/p>\n
Former Chelsea and Tottenham coach Antonio Conte also stated he is not in \u201cadvanced\u201d negotiations with any club.<\/p>\n
Conte, who has been out of work since leaving Napoli at the end of last season, has been repeatedly linked with United over the past decade.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management,\u201d the Italian posted on social media.<\/p>\n
