Ms Camm returned from six weeks’ sick leave just a fortnight ago, after undergoing “major surgery”.<\/p>\n
The Whitsunday MP had faced months of intense scrutiny, including over children in residential care sleeping on the floor of child safety offices, and cuts to the DFV prevention sector in the latest state budget.<\/p>\n

It’s the first movement in the frontbench since the LNP won government in 2024.<\/p>\n
Ms Stoker said Ms Camm had her “deep respect”.<\/p>\n
“I think she’s laid a really good foundation,” she said.<\/p>\n
“I look forward to driving the implementation of the response to the commission of inquiry.”<\/p>\n

Mr Crisafulli said Ms Stoker’s performance indicators were clear.<\/p>\n
“We are not going to the next election without kids being adopted out of residential care,” he said.<\/p>\n
“That has got to happen, that is my expectation and it will happen.”<\/p>\n
‘Far-right spear-thrower’<\/p>\n
Opposition Leader Steven Miles said he was disappointed Mr Crisafulli had not chosen a more senior MP and instead appointed his “far-right spear-thrower”.<\/p>\n
“This is a woman who said sexuality was a choice, she’s now in charge of this government’s \u2026 LGBTQ policy,” he said.<\/p>\n
“This is a woman who said abortion should be illegal even for women who have been raped, and even today she refused to rule out advocating for changes to those abortion laws.<\/p>\n
“David Crisafulli’s government has a problem with women and Amanda Stoker will only make it worse.”<\/p>\n

Shadow Child Safety Minister Corrine McMillan said Ms Camm had left the two portfolios “in an absolute mess”.<\/p>\n
“Women and children are more at risk than ever,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We hope that Amanda Stoker can fix some of the myriad of issues immediately.”<\/p>\n
Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Alliance CEO Mel Arnost said ending domestic and family violence “must remain a priority” for the government.<\/p>\n

“It requires a commitment to generational change, an openness to innovation and sustained investment in specialist services,” Ms Arnost said.<\/p>\n
“We look forward to working with Minister Stoker on the Crisafulli government’s commitment to addressing this serious issue to provide a safer community for all Queenslanders.”<\/p>\n
Queensland Council of Social Service CEO Aimee McVeigh thanked Ms Camm for her service and said Ms Stoker’s appointment came at a “critical time”.<\/p>\n
“In the face of escalating cost-of-living pressures, we encourage Minister Stoker to renew the government’s focus on families and work across government and with the community services sector, so every family and child has what they need to thrive,” Ms McVeigh said.<\/p>\n
Ms Stoker was assistant minister for finance, trade, employment and training, and a federal senator for Queensland from 2018 to 2022.<\/p>\n
