Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Port Adelaide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portadelaidefc.com.au\/news\/2155633\/port-adelaide-deeply-saddened-by-the-passing-of-daniel-stewart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">previously announced<\/a> the \u201csudden\u201d death of Stewart, who played for the franchise from 2010-13 and appeared in 36 games and tallied 31 goals after being drafted by the club in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The team plans to wear black armbands at its first home game in 2027 to honor him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniel was part of the Port Adelaide football family, and he always will be, Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA sudden passing like this is devastating and our thoughts are with everyone who loved him, and with the teammates, coaches and staff who shared the journey with him here at Alberton.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart\u2019s BFT partner and fellow former AFLer, Matty Thomas, posted recently \u2014 and seemingly before Stewart\u2019s death \u2014 a photo of the two working out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c17 years of friendship. From teammates to business partners, to dads \u2014 and still each other\u2019s biggest motivators,\u201d he wrote. Still doing BFT classes because they work!!!! \ud83d\udcaa\ud83c\udffd.
