Taylor said her decision left producers \u201castonished\u201d, but the move worked in her favour as it gave her greater flexibility to star in other projects. <\/p>\n
\u201cI stopped being under contract. So, in other words, they would say, \u2018Can you do a guest appearance at the end of March?\u2019 And I would say, \u2018No, I cannot,\u2019\u201d she recalled. \u201cI only did it if I wanted to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved a lot about that show, but they were not full of courtesies,\u201d she continued. \u201cIn any case, when the six years was up, I said, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be on a contract anymore but I will visit the show occasionally if you want.\u2019 I mean, I did play the boys\u2019 mother.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actress said she didn\u2019t even try to negotiate for a bigger salary because the studio kept claiming they didn\u2019t have the funds, telling her, \u201cWe can\u2019t pay you any more money.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018You could actually pay me the cost of this building, but don\u2019t bother because I don\u2019t want to continue on under contract,\u2019\u201d she hit back. \u201cAnd they said, \u2018But we can\u2019t afford to give you more.\u2019 I said, \u2018I\u2019m cool with it. I just will come back as a guest from time to time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The sitcom experienced a shake-up when Sheen was fired from the show in 2011 due to his struggles with substance abuse, erratic behaviour and public scrutiny of the show\u2019s creator, Chuck Lorre. <\/p>\n
Sheen was reportedly paid $US800,000 ($1 million) per episode in the early seasons, but later he reportedly earned up to $US2 million ($2.8 million) per episode before his departure.<\/p>\n
Ashton Kutcher went on to replace Sheen, reportedly being paid $US700,000 ($995,000) per episode to play billionaire Walden Schmidt in the series for four more seasons before Two and a Half Men wrapped altogether. <\/p>\n
In her podcast interview, Holland claimed that co-star Cryer \u2013 who had an equal amount of scenes as Sheen \u2013 \u201cquadrupled his salary or something like that\u201d when Kutcher joined the show. <\/p>\n
But it appears she may be mistaken in light of the 2025 Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, which details the actor\u2019s rise and fall.<\/p>\n
In the doco, Cryer likened Sheen to controversial dictator Kim Jong-il. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe dictator of North Korea was a guy named Kim Jong-il,\u201d Cryer explained. \u201cHe acted crazy all the time and thus got enormous amounts of aid from countries who were so scared of him that they would shovel money at him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, that\u2019s what happened here. [Sheen\u2019s] negotiations went off the charts because his life was falling apart. Me, whose life was pretty good at that time, I got a third of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s believed Cryer earned roughly $US550,000 ($780,000) per episode before getting a paybump to $US620,000 ($880,000) per show following Sheen\u2019s exit. <\/p>\n
