{"id":941618,"date":"2026-10-26T14:34:31","date_gmt":"2026-10-26T14:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/941618\/"},"modified":"2026-10-26T14:34:31","modified_gmt":"2026-10-26T14:34:31","slug":"lee-holdsworths-fine-for-race-suit-joke-2009-gold-coast-v8-supercars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/941618\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee Holdsworth&#8217;s fine for race suit joke, 2009 Gold Coast V8 Supercars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WITH the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 completed over the weekend we couldn\u2019t help but keep the Surfers Paradise theme rolling a little longer and rewind to the 2009 event to find one of the more bizarre fines ever handed out to a Supercars driver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-354-Garry-Rogers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garry Rogers<\/a> Motorsport Commodore pilot, now-Team 18 co-driver and commercial property guru <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-12-Lee-Holdsworth\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lee Holdsworth<\/a> copped a $2000 suspended fine at that year\u2019s round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His crime?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps involvement in an on-track collision with another driver? <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What about speeding in pit lane?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-subscription?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1793025267_458_sleuth-mag-sub.jpg\"\/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you guessed, \u2018wearing inappropriate clothing during driver introductions\u2019 then you\u2019d be correct!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had to dive into the Stewards Reports of the period to recall this, however Holdsworth taped his driving suit to the front of his body to give the impression he was wearing it, before turning around to expose his boxer shorts.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/News_HoldsworthParade09GCGibb-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-269155\"  \/>Holdsy had his race suit and t-shirt on properly for the driver\u2019s parade!
