Liam Lawson<\/a> may still be waiting to learn his fate at Racing Bulls<\/a>, but there was a sign that things could be moving in his direction, with team principal Alan Permane applauding his \u201cperfect weekend\u201d at the United States Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

Lawson finished the Grand Prix as the best of the rest, behind the drivers from Formula 1\u2019s top four teams, extending his advantage over Pierre Gasly in ninth place in the Drivers\u2019 Championship to 35 points.<\/p>\n

Liam Lawson earns praise as Racing Bulls wait continues<\/p>\n

Racing Bulls is the only team yet to confirm either of its drivers for the F1 2027 season.<\/p>\n

While the team could stick with incumbents Lawson<\/a> and Arvid Lindblad, one of them could make way for Red Bull junior Tsolov, who is the \u201cnext in line\u201d for a Formula 1 promotion according to Permane.<\/p>\n

According to F1\u2019s rumour mill, it\u2019s Lawson who is the most likely of the current teammates to be dropped if Red Bull does promote Tsolov.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s despite the New Zealander leading Racing Bulls\u2019 charge to fifth place in the Constructors\u2019 Championship.<\/p>\n

Lawson has scored 63 of his 77 points for this season with Racing Bulls, compared to his teammate Lindblad\u2019s 38. He added to his tally at the United States Grand Prix, where he extended his run of top-ten results to three on the trot.<\/p>\n

His team principal Permane was happy with Lawson\u2019s performance in Austin and joked that Lawson should perform another concert in Mexico if it produced a similar result.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to do a gig on Thursday in Mexico [the next race] as well?\u201d Permane quipped over the radio.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I felt so relaxed all weekend, honestly,\u201d Lawson chuckled.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell done, amazing,\u201d Permane said. \u201cPerfect, perfect weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lawson replied: \u201cThank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lawson\u2019s race engineer Alexandre Iliopoulos also applauded the 24-year-old\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cMission accomplished, P9,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was a bit of a boring one, but we like boring ones. <\/p>\n

Lawson replied: \u201cBut what a fast race car man! *****! From the start a little bit of understeer but good from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his \u201cperfect\u201d performance, Lawson\u2019s wait to learn his fate continues.<\/p>\n

He was asked by F1 TV presenter Jolyon Palmer if he had any idea about the team\u2019s deadline.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve no idea, man,\u201d Lawson replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly at the moment, it\u2019s to a point where I\u2019m not even really thinking about it. I\u2019m just pressing on and enjoying the races, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n
