The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from their first World Series title. They beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1<\/a> on Monday night to take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Milwaukee scored eight runs in the fifth inning, all with two outs, a World Series first. Their seven straight two-out hits also set a record. The Brewers have never won a championship title, and their only other World Series trip ended with a loss in 1982. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the World Series.<\/p>\n

Game 4 takes place tonight in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the Brewers could win it all. Behind the team is owner Mark Attanasio. Below, get to know more about Attanasio.<\/p>\n

Attanasio, 69, has been the team\u2019s principal owner since 2005, when he bought it from the family of then-MLB commissioner Bud Selig for an estimated $223 million<\/a>. Forbes now values the team at $1.9 billion<\/a>, which ranks 21st among major league clubs. Under Attanasio\u2019s ownership, Milwaukee has become a steady playoff contender<\/a>, reaching the postseason every year from 2018 through 2026 except 2022. According to MLB.com<\/a>, Attanasio has said he does not plan to sell and eventually intends to pass the team to his two sons, Mike and Dan. \u201cI certainly hope I\u2019m around for a while but that\u2019s what we\u2019ve planned for,\u201d he said in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Attanasio is not the only owner of the team.<\/p>\n

The Brewers have roughly 17 or 18 owners, and Attanasio holds the largest share as chairman and principal owner<\/a>. Although the Brewers do not publicly disclose their full minority ownership group, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/a> says that several prominent local business figures and legacy families have been identified through reports and team announcements.<\/p>\n

Per Forbes<\/a>, Attanasio\u2019s net worth is also estimated at $1.9 billion. Born in the Bronx, New York, Attanasio graduated from Brown University and Columbia Law School. In 1991, he co-founded Crescent Capital Group, a Los Angeles firm that invests in companies and manages assets for clients. It now oversees about $53 billion and has invested in more than 190 companies. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Debbie. They have two sons, Daniel and Michael, who performed the national anthem<\/a> before the Brewers\u2019 home opener in 2016 as a tribute to their grandfather<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Attanasio also owns an English soccer club.<\/p>\n

Attanasio is the majority shareholder of Norwich City, currently ranked 20th<\/a> in the Championship tier of English football, which is a level below Premier League. He became a director in 2022 with an initial 18% stake in the club. He also provided a $11.6 million loan to the organization upon arrival. After raising his stake over two years, he and his investment group became the sole majority owners in October 2024. While it matched a trend of American sports owners increasingly investing in European soccer clubs, The Athletic<\/a> noted at the time that \u201cthere has been a degree of confusion and annoyance from Brewers fans\u201d following the news given that \u201cthe Brewers have been in a good place, growing from relative MLB irrelevance to the brink of the World Series in 2018, built on growth that had taken place under steady leadership, with canny data usage, relative transparency and sustainable spending.\u201d<\/p>\n

He is also a part-owner of the Milwaukee Admirals, a minor league hockey team.<\/p>\n

In September, a real estate and property holding company he owns, 2XMD Partners LLC, settled a two-year dispute with the California Coastal Commission. The agency said its workers used heavy equipment to remove sand and boulders from a protected public beach in Malibu to shore up his nearby property. He agreed to remove the unpermitted work, restore the boulder field, and give the public a beachfront parcel<\/a> valued at $2 million. In a statement<\/a> after the decision, the commission\u2019s director Kate Huckelbridge called it \u201ca major win for Californians.\u201d<\/p>\n
