{"id":945106,"date":"2026-10-29T11:38:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T11:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945106\/"},"modified":"2026-10-29T11:38:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T11:38:13","slug":"jack-perkins-addresses-gold-coast-general-motors-supercars-fuel-stops-saga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945106\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Perkins addresses Gold Coast General Motors Supercars fuel stops saga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-48-Jack-Perkins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JACK Perkins<\/a> believes a case of copying one another\u2019s homework is how both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-2803-Jarrod-Hughes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jarrod Hughes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1701-Cooper-Murray\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Murray<\/a> came to effectively run out of fuel in the Gold Coast 500 finale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was prepared to really come on here and be very forthright, but I decided that I needed to understand the facts \u2013 and it\u2019s hard to get all the facts but the information that\u2019s available is the stationary time in pitlane,\u201d Perkins said via The Undercut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forthright component was a preparedness to rip into General Motors for what\u2019s been perceived to be illegal manufacturer manipulation in order to get the Camaro of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1264-Anton-De Pasquale\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anton De Pasquale<\/a> into the Sandown semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That train of thought has been rejected by Supercars, GM, PremiAir Racing and Erebus Motorsport alike, and Triple Eight Ford-aligned Perkins says the stationary pitstop times support those denials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which comes back to the \u201cChevy calculator\u201d needing another whack, just weeks on from Team 18\u2019s infamous Bathurst balls-up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m going to run my own theory that the Car #99 of Hughes came in and put 21.1 seconds in for the last stop. That\u2019s the first stuff-up. They\u2019re both stuffed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is copying someone in the school exam\u2026 I reckon that\u2019s what has happened and then they have both had to come in and put in, respectively, 6.0 and 6.7 seconds\u2019 worth of fuel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd if I\u2019m Roland Dane, I am ropeable.
