{"id":945194,"date":"2026-10-29T13:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T13:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945194\/"},"modified":"2026-10-29T13:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T13:26:08","slug":"fia-makes-key-decision-for-the-mexican-grand-prix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945194\/","title":{"rendered":"FIA makes key decision for the Mexican Grand Prix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEXICO CITY \u2013 The FIA has confirmed that three Straight Mode zones will be in place at this weekend\u2019s Mexican Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Formula 1 is racing at the Aut\u00f3dromo Hermanos Rodr\u00edguez this weekend, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/driver\/kimi-antonelli\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kimi Antonelli<\/a> is expected to be crowned the 2026 F1 world champion.<\/p>\n<p>Three SM zones confirmed for the Mexican GP<\/p>\n<p>This season, Formula 1 introduced Straight Mode as part of the new technical regulations, which include active aerodynamics.<\/p>\n<p>Active aero allows the drivers to adjust their front and rear wing angles to optimise downforce in corners or reduce drag on straights.<\/p>\n<p>When Straight Mode is deployed, both the front and rear wings move to a lower-drag configuration, which allows for greater speed.<\/p>\n<p>It, however, is only available in designated zones on the track that are determined by the FIA.<\/p>\n<p>The number of Straight Mode zones has varied from circuit to circuit in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>While there were five zones at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, the most this season, Monaco had none due to the tight and twisty nature of the street circuit.<\/p>\n<p>The Mexican Grand Prix will feature three, the same as Miami and Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>More on the Mexican Grand Prix<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/mexico-gp-data-predicts-mercedes-red-bull-ferrari-mclaren\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Data predicts Ferrari and McLaren will struggle in Mexico Grand Prix<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/tracks\/autodromo-hermanos-rodriguez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Track guide: Aut\u00f3dromo Hermanos Rodr\u00edguez<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The FIA has confirmed that there will be three Straight Mode zones for this weekend\u2019s race at the Aut\u00f3dromo Hermanos Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n<p>The first zone begins 70 metres after Turn 17, just after the finish line, and ends 150 metres after the corner.
