{"id":945284,"date":"2026-10-29T15:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T15:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945284\/"},"modified":"2026-10-29T15:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T15:14:09","slug":"christian-horner-legacy-questioned-as-ralf-schumacher-hits-out-over-helmut-marko-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/945284\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Horner legacy questioned as Ralf Schumacher hits out over Helmut Marko claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ralf Schumacher claims Christian Horner has tarnished his legacy with his comments about Helmut Marko as he promoted his autobiography, Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Horner gave several interviews in the build-up to last week\u2019s release of \u2018Drive\u2019, his tell-all autobiography about his 20 years in charge of Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Ralf Schumacher criticises Christian Horner over Helmut Marko comments<\/p>\n<p>It was during those interviews that he made a series of claims about Marko.<\/p>\n<p>He accused Marko of working hard to have him removed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/team\/red-bull\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Bull<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He told Bild: \u201cIt really got to me that he was so actively involved in getting me sacked, whilst my ex-partner and the mother of my daughter had passed away shortly before. He didn\u2019t even offer his condolences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In another interview with the Times, the Briton claimed he was \u201calways mopping up the s***\u201d that Marko caused.<\/p>\n<p>He expanded on that on the Up to Speed podcast, saying: \u201cSometimes, yes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were periods where it was fine, it was great, and everybody knew what their roles were. I think where it started to get a little bit messy was, as I say, after Dietrich passed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More from Christian Horner<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/christian-horner-liam-lawson-red-bull-demotion\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Horner addresses Liam Lawson and Co. in telling Red Bull admission<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/helmut-marko-christian-horner-untruths\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Helmut Marko calls Christian Horner\u2019s claims a \u2018collection of untruths\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But given everything that Horner and Marko achieved together, Schumacher says his comments about his former colleague are \u201ctasteless\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when Red Bull Powertrains was celebrating back-to-back wins for Max Verstappen at the Bahrain and Singapore Grands Prix, the former F1 driver claims Horner has tarnished his own legacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, it\u2019s nothing new with Christian Horner that one or the other time was a bit tasteless,\u201d he told Sky Deutschland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s a shame. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is ruining all his own work, because he was very successful together with the team. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe played a major role in influencing the engine with which Red Bull won races here. He got the people and then did something like that. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s just a shame and sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marko refused to be drawn into a war of words with Horner when asked by F1-Insider to respond to his former colleague\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p>He simply said: \u201cIt\u2019s a collection of untruths.
