Former number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been delisted from the Gold Coast Suns just 12 months after being traded by the Western Bulldogs.

But the club plans on giving him another chance via the AFL’s national draft.

Gold Coast confirmed on Friday the club had delisted the beleaguered star who played just three senior matches in his one and only season as a Sun, after no matches at any level in 2025 due to off-field issues and personal battles.

His last match came against St Kilda in Darwin during May before being struck down with an ankle injury.

Although goalless in that match, the 24-year-old key forward kicked four goals in his first two matches as a Sun, including three against the Giants.

After courting his fair share of controversy at the Western Bulldogs, Ugle-Hagan was in the headlines during his time with the Gold Coast when video emerged of him leaving a disabled toilet with teammate Mac Andrew at Suncorp Stadium, for the NRL’s State of Origin game three, in July.

Both players denied any misconduct.

Despite this and limited game time for Ugle-Hagan in 2026, the Suns have signalled their intent to select the forward and Elliott Himmelberg, 28, in next month’s draft to keep them in red, blue and gold.

Himmelberg previously played 50 matches for the Adelaide Crows, but is yet to feature at senior level for the Gold Coast after battling several serious injury setbacks. The Suns currently hold selections eight, 81, 85 and 103 in this year’s draft.

As reported by CODE Sports, Ugle-Hagan was recently pictured training in Victoria, including a session with 2023 Norm Smith Medallist, Bobby Hill.

Hill has indicated his intentions to make an AFL return after his own personal challenges.

Midfielder Ben Jepson will also remain at the club after signing a one-year contract extension.

Former number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been delisted from the Gold Coast Suns just 12 months…

[560
437700,513263,400523,428585,513280,4891,10968,357872,513277,389106,513278,513249,513275,401649,513256,513264,378596,513254,638,393664,417749,406578,425680,513271,64,63,55,639,513272,513251,456606,68077,7882,5249,32387,513253,513260,513252,426822,39598,513265,2485,9130,407548,513255,388328,513259,513250,379530,302744,25356,437650,513281,513279,43961,235081,513270,513261,513257,5122,38350,3236,513269,85,1122,40050,9391,513276,400744,513267,380195,379302,513258,382205,392249,513262,46675,403702,381116,380184,187456,513266,428192,513273,513268,364611,1542,96398,513274,660,446
post-946021","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-afl","tag-s-draft","tag-s-draft-as","tag-s-national-draft","tag-s-state","tag-2023-norm-smith-medallist","tag-4891","tag-10968","tag-357872","tag-50-matches","tag-389106","tag-85-and-103","tag-a-disabled-toilet","tag-a-former-no-1-draft-pick","tag-a-lifeline","tag-a-one-year-contract-extension","tag-a-patchy-season","tag-a-session","tag-a-sun","tag-afl","tag-an-afl-return","tag-an-ankle-injury","tag-another-chance","tag-any-level","tag-any-misconduct","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-australian-football-league","tag-australianfootballleague","tag-blue-and-gold-himmelberg","tag-bobby-hill-hill","tag-both-players","tag-code-sports","tag-controversy","tag-darwin","tag-eight","tag-elliott-himmelberg","tag-former-no-1-draft-pick","tag-former-number-one-draft-pick-jamarra-ugle-hagan","tag-four-goals","tag-friday","tag-goalless","tag-gold-coast","tag-gold-coast-suns","tag-his-fair-share","tag-his-first-two-matches","tag-his-intentions","tag-his-one-and-only-season","tag-his-own-personal-challenges","tag-his-time","tag-jamarra-ugle-hagan","tag-july","tag-just-12-months","tag-just-three-senior-matches","tag-midfielder-ben-jepson","tag-newswire-sport","tag-next-month","tag-off-field-issues","tag-origin-game-three","tag-personal-battles-his-last-match","tag-red","tag-selections","tag-senior-level","tag-several-serious-injury-setbacks","tag-sports","tag-st-kilda","tag-suncorp-stadium","tag-suns","tag-teammate-mac-andrew","tag-that-match","tag-the-24-year-old-key","tag-the-adelaide-crows","tag-the-afl","tag-the-beleaguered-star","tag-the-club","tag-the-forward","tag-the-giants-after","tag-the-gold-coast","tag-the-gold-coast-suns","tag-the-headlines","tag-the-nrl","tag-the-suns","tag-the-western","tag-the-western-bulldogs","tag-their-intent","tag-this-and-limited-game-time","tag-this-year","tag-training","tag-twist","tag-ugle-hagan","tag-victoria","tag-video
["GET
