The upcoming 28th anniversary of Princess Diana\u2019s death could cause fresh tensions between Princes William and Harry as the brothers feud over her legacy.<\/p>\n
Diana died aged just 36 in a car crash inside a Paris tunnel on the evening of 31 August, 1997 that also claimed the lives of her then-lover Dodi Fayed and the driver Henri Paul.<\/p>\n
Her death sparked a global outpouring of grief and left William and Harry without a mother at ages 15 and 12, respectively.<\/p>\n
According to the Daily Beast, Harry\u2019s Archewell production company is reportedly in talks to produce a documentary on Diana ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death in 2027.<\/p>\n
\u201cHarry is looking to do a series about Diana in 2027,\u201d a source said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey want to get the right partners and we have had a conversation with them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sure other production companies have too.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn inside account of the implosion of Charles and Diana\u2019s marriage, and Harry\u2019s story of Diana\u2019s death and its aftermath would be the TV sensation of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both William and Harry participated in a documentary marking the 20th anniversary of Diana\u2019s death in 2017 while Harry was still a working royal.<\/p>\n
According to a second source who spoke to the same outlet, William wanted the 2017 project to be his \u201clast word\u201d on his mother\u2019s tragic death.<\/p>\n
However, reports Harry could be looking to cash in on the 30th anniversary may force the Prince of Wales to produce a rival documentary.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Harry is now going to do another massive Netflix show effectively claiming her legacy, William will have to fight back, whether that\u2019s with an interview or a documentary of his own,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole situation is just very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n
Safeguarding Diana\u2019s legacy has continued to bring the estranged brothers together despite Harry\u2019s rift from the Prince and Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n
In July 2021, both William and Harry jointly attended the unveiling of a statue of Diana inside the sunken garden of Kensington Palace.<\/p>\n
