Retired AFL star Brendan Fevola is adamant controversial rapper Snoop Dogg will not headline the AFL<\/a>\u2019s Grand Final pre-game show, and has claimed an Aussie act will replace him as the AFL continues its crusade against homophobia.<\/p>\n

Fans had been divided over Snoop\u2019s billing since the decision was made public on August 11, and the debate has only roared on after Adelaide forward Izak Rankine was suspended for an in-game homophobic slur last week.<\/p>\n

Some have said the rapper\u2019s arguably dated and disrespectful lyrics contravene the AFL\u2019s stance on gender equality and same sex relationships.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning, Fevola told The Fox\u2019s Fifi, Fev & Nick that he believed the AFL had designs on dumping the 53-year-old headliner.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Snoop Dogg, I might have some goss about that. They\u2019re going to axe him,\u201d Fevola told listeners.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of this debacle?\u201d co-host Fifi Box asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYep. Because of his lyrics in his song and he talked about (struggling to discuss) gay parents over the weekend. I think he will get the a***, and they are going to go for an Aussie artist to play at the MCG,\u201d Fevola responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat will happen, take that to the bank. I reckon he\u2019s gonna get the (a***), which he should.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Snoop\u2019s 1998 hit Doggz Gonna Get Ya, he uses the same slur reportedly uttered by Izak Rankine against Collingwood that resulted in a four-match ban.<\/p>\n

The verse reads: \u201cI can\u2019t believe that Dogg would dis me, that f****t that punk he soft or sissy\u201d.<\/p>\n

While time hasn\u2019t been kind to the rapper\u2019s lyrics, he found himself in hot water more recently when discussing same sex marriage depicted in children\u2019s films, as referenced by Fevola.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the It\u2019s Giving Podcast, Snoop suggested he\u2019d been taken off guard when watching the Toy Story spin-off Lightyear, asked by his grandson how a pair of women could raise a child together.<\/p>\n

\u201cPapa Snoop, how\u2019d she have a baby with a woman?\u201d the rapper recalled his grandson asking.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like oh s***, I didn\u2019t come in for this s***, I just came to watch the goddamn movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that\u2019s like this, f*** me. I\u2019m scared to go to the movies now, like y\u2019all throwing me in the middle of s*** that I don\u2019t have an answer for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt threw me for a loop, I\u2019m like, what part of the movie was this, these are kids that we have to show that at this age, like that?<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re going to ask questions, yeah. They\u2019re going to ask, I don\u2019t have the answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon addressed growing concerns over the rapper\u2019s upcoming performance on Friday last week and declared it would be \u201cfamily friendly\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn light of this (Rankine) issue, I also want to address commentary in the last couple of days around our grand final entertainment,\u201d Dillon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot vouch for every lyric in every song ever written or performed by any artist who has or will appear on our stage, Australian or international.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what I can say is our pre-match entertainment on grand final day will be family-friendly and consistent with the audience at the MCG and those watching the broadcast.\u201d<\/p>\n
