{"id":947047,"date":"2026-10-31T01:48:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T01:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/947047\/"},"modified":"2026-10-31T01:48:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T01:48:09","slug":"box-office-2026-global-haul-headed-to-near-36-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/947047\/","title":{"rendered":"Box Office: 2026 Global Haul Headed To Near $36 Billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBox office authority <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/gower-street\/\" id=\"auto-tag_gower-street\" data-tag=\"gower-street\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gower Street<\/a> Analytics has revised their 2026 annual global ticket sales forecast to $35.7 billion, up 2.9% from their previous estimate which they reported at April\u2019s CinemaCon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTheir forecast is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/rentrak\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rentrak\" data-tag=\"rentrak\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rentrak<\/a> actuals and Gower estimates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIf the global B.O. hits $35.7B, that will rep a 6.3% uptick from last year\u2019s haul and the best since 2019\u2019s $42.3 billion tally. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThis year\u2019s forecast is comprised of a $10.5B North American projection, $19.7 billion from international markets excluding China and $5.5 billion from China. \u201cThose figures would be an 18% hike for domestic over 2025, a nearly 14% jump for international sans China and about a 26% slide for China which has had a softer year so far as admissions and ticket prices have dropped (though <a href=\"https:\/\/rentrakboxoffice.substack.com\/p\/china-box-office-hollywood-horror\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">horror<\/a> has been having something of a heyday there),\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rentrakboxoffice.substack.com\/p\/2026-global-box-office-projected\" target=\"_blank\">says the latest Global Rentrak Substack. <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt\u2019s been a gangbusters year for Hollywood around the globe with five billion-plus grossing titles including Sony\/Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man: Brand New Day ($2.5B), The Odyssey ($1.8B), Toy Story 5 ($1.1M), Michael ($1B) and Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1B). There\u2019s also been massive horror breakouts in indie fare such as Obsession ($525M) and Backrooms ($400.6M). China has had a massive hit in the race car franchise pic, Pegasus 3 which zoomed to a near $654M.
