Have you ever had those moments where you see something develop and think, “That’s incredible, but there’s no way someone can top that,” only for someone to top it?<\/p>\n

Well, I had that exact thought when our Patrick O’Rourke, XDA’s News and Entertainment Editor, reported on people porting Super Mario Bros. Wonder over to the PC<\/a>, because how do you get better than that? it turns out, there is one way: getting Pok\u00e9mon Pokopia to run on a PS5, which, in turn, is running Linux.<\/p>\n

Is it a PC port of a PS5 port, or both? Who knows?<\/p>\n

Over on the @CentroLeaks<\/a> X feed (via VideoCardz<\/a>), there’s a video of someone getting Pok\u00e9mon Pokopia running on the PS5. Not only that, but the PS5 is running Linux, making this an interesting example of how people are getting Nintendo games on other consoles.<\/p>\n

So, how well does it run? Well, right now, it’s still a work in progress. The video below shows the game running, but all the characters are just shadowy figures.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there’s also been progress on getting ProsperoEden, an unofficial port of the Eden emulator to PS5, to work with Pok\u00e9mon Pokopia. There’s a video<\/a> showing everything looking properly textured, with the framerate looking a little slow<\/p>\n

Still, it’s pretty impressive to see how far things have come. With all these decompilations and ports, who knows what games we’ll see on platforms they normally shouldn’t run on? Right now, the sky seems to be the limit.<\/p>\n
