With living costs pinching household budgets across the country, the hunger for second-hand deals is growing, with lines of customers waiting in the scorching hot sun.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Vinnies revealed that \u201ceverything will continue to be $10 or under moving forward\u201d, although this excludes furniture, electrical and leisure items. <\/p>\n
Among those waiting at the front of the pack was content creator Julian Glass, who arrived bright and early at 8:30am to beat the rush.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were around 30 to 40 people ahead of me already,\u201d Mr Glass told news.com.au.<\/p>\n
\u201cVinnies made it a real vibe by putting on free food, and they even had a wheel to spin to win prizes for anyone who spent over $30.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once inside, customers flooded rows of colour-coded racks, overflowing homeware shelves, and aisles of larger furniture and household electrical items.<\/p>\n
Unlike traditional charity shops where every individual garment carries a unique handwritten tag, Auburn operates on a streamlined flat-pricing outlet model.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the prices were set, which I think is a really smart approach by Vinnies as it saves them time having to individually price and tag every item,\u201d Mr Glass shared.<\/p>\n
For smart shoppers, the set pricing meant luxury and streetwear labels were up for grabs at a fraction of their retail value. <\/p>\n
Mr Glass managed to walk out with an enviable haul of brand names without blowing his budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cI bought a Nike training shirt, a vintage Gant jacket, a Ralph Lauren polo, and a few more bits and pieces. I spent a total of $61 for around 10 items,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Talk about bang for your buck.<\/p>\n
The Vinnies spokesperson claimed the clothing inside the store is a \u201ccombination of items received directly from donors as well as pieces sent to the Auburn outlet from other Vinnies NSW shops and Distribution Centres\u201d. <\/p>\n
Mr Glass noted the scale offered far more options than an average suburban branch.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I were in the area, I\u2019d go back, though I probably wouldn\u2019t make a special trip just for it. Lovely staff, though,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The Auburn outlet follows similar high-turnover openings in Surry Hills and South Nowra, which have already combined to move roughly 54,000 second-hand pieces out of landfill and back into wardrobes.<\/p>\n
The giant facility also features a drive-up drop-off bay, allowing locals to donate unwanted apparel and goods straight from their boot without having to leave the car.<\/p>\n
Profits from these shops, along with public donations and government grants, go directly back into local community support programs. <\/p>\n
Last financial year alone, Vinnies NSW sorted through a staggering 3.7 million kilograms of donated textiles and shifted 10.7 million units across the state, raising over $90 million to fund vital homelessness services, emergency food relief, and financial aid.<\/p>\n
Judging by the Saturday morning turnout, Western Sydney\u2019s appetite for a bargain won\u2019t be slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n
