Tens of thousands of punters have braved the cold before the sun broke through at Flemington,witnessing Point of Law win the Melbourne Cup.<\/p>\n
Superstar musician Robbie Williams entertained the masses prior to the Race that Stops a Nation, with Hollywood star Jamie Foxx among the crowd who witnessed trainer Ciaron Maher train his second Cup winner. <\/p>\n
The Birdcage was abuzz when Foxx made an appearance, donning a gold and black blazer and giving the crowds a dazzling smile. <\/p>\n
Jockey Ethan Brown steering the overseas colt to secure his first Melbourne Cup. Maher trained the trifecta with Zahrann and Juja Kibo filling the placings.<\/p>\n

Another Maher runner Royal Supremacy set the pace, leading by 15 lengths at one stage, before being run down in the famous Flemington straight. The trifecta paid $2,644.50 and first four $50,275.10 on the TAB.<\/p>\n
Crowds quickly found the best spot to watch the main race at 3pm. Some had to rush to make it to the race on time, craning their necks to get a proper view. <\/p>\n
With glasses full and eyes peeled, it was a sea of colour, as the punters kept their eyes on any nearby screen. <\/p>\n
The chaotic race was a rollercoaster from start to finish, as the attendees hollered and clapped the field making the mad dash to the finish line. <\/p>\n
Mixed sounds of exhilaration and disappointment echoed through the marquees as the race came to an end \u2013 the triumphant winners leaving Flemington richer.<\/p>\n

Seas of people filled the club lawn, making a beeline from the Fashions in the Field to the Mounting Yard \u2013 just in time to see the star of the show. <\/p>\n

Dancers in yellow and white were poised to take their spots at the stage, as the crowd\u2019s loud cheers echoed through the open air. <\/p>\n
Dressed in a bold blue suit embellished with roses, Robbie Williams wowed the crowd by belting out his greatest hits.<\/p>\n

Punters brave the cold<\/p>\n
Grey clouds blanketed the skies and temperatures plummeted on Tuesday morning, as early attendees tugged their coats around their bright dresses and suits.<\/p>\n
The sun finally broke through the dark clouds about 12.30pm, giving attendees the chance to enjoy a small slice of warmth amid the moody conditions. <\/p>\n
Coats finally shed and brollies away, the Birdcage was flooded with a sea of pink and purple, with splashes of red and blue among the crowd. <\/p>\n
Large hats and an overflow of flowers adorned the heads of guests, shielding the sun as the heavy grey skies began to clear. <\/p>\n
Polka dots and florals littered the dresses of punters, sporting frocks with high slits and flowing, frilly fabrics. <\/p>\n
Inspired by the brightly-coloured attendees, blue skies finally emerged in the afternoon; prompting large crowds to peel themselves outside. The most stylish of them all were spotted at Fashions in the Field tent.<\/p>\n
In the Birdcage, a small crowd began to emerge at the front of the stage, with many breaking away from the races to dance the cold away. <\/p>\n
Cheers and whoops could be heard across the field as punters backed the winning horses, high-fiving each other as they basked in the sunshine. <\/p>\n
Former MAFS star Jules Robinson, who is one of the judges on Fashion on the Fields, told NewsWire the Melbourne Cup was the perfect opportunity to wear something bright and colourful amid the miserable skies. <\/p>\n

Some attendees even left their coats at home, braving the cold lest they disrupt an outfit. <\/p>\n
Many went all out with their looks, donning bold sequins, neon colours, leather and lace to stand out from the crowds. <\/p>\n
Kate Waterhouse \u2013 media socialite and daughter of horse trainer Gai Waterhouse \u2013 was one of the most stylish of the day, wearing a deep burgundy ensemble from Steven Khalil with Jimmy Choo accessories and a pair of cream gloves, direct from Milan. <\/p>\n
