A young co-pilot sent a chilling final text to her boyfriend just minutes before a private jet plummeted<\/a> onto a busy road in Florida, killing all nine people on board.<\/p>\n

Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, was co-piloting the Learjet when it suddenly plunged towards the ground in Palm Beach County about 12.50pm local time on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Dashcam footage captured the horrifying moment the jet slammed nose-first into a roadway before erupting into a massive fireball.<\/p>\n

The impact left a large, smouldering crater, with debris scattered across the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

\u201cDebris was everywhere. Debris hit my house. Everything was on fire. The road was on fire,\u201d Anthony Blackmon, who lives near the crash site, told NBC affiliate WTVJ.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always seen it on the news, never thought it would happen so close to somebody like how it happened today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filgueiras\u2019 stepfather, Thiago Corteleti, told the New York Post she had been texting her boyfriend, who is also a pilot, about the conditions she was experiencing just minutes before the crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe texted her boyfriend, I think, at 12.40 pm and the accident was at 12.50pm,\u201d the 44-year-old said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe just said, \u2018I\u2019ve got turbulence, I\u2019ve got ice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filgueiras had also reported turbulence and ice accumulating<\/a> on the aircraft while flying at 35,000 feet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have light, clear ice that is manageable and moderate turbulence,\u201d she was heard saying over the radio.<\/p>\n

But the situation rapidly deteriorated.<\/p>\n

After requesting permission to climb another 2000 feet, she issued a mayday call as the jet began descending at an alarming rate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re descending 8000 [feet] \u2014 mayday, mayday \u2014 we\u2019re descending 10,000 feet per minute,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in an overspeed condition descending 20,000 feet per minute.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to crash into the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filgueiras\u2019 mother, Camila Gadelha Corteleti, told CNN the family was originally from Brazil but lived in Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a very good girl \u2014 responsible, hardworking,\u201d Corteleti said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was the co-pilot and couldn\u2019t make any decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filgueiras earned her pilot\u2019s licence at just 17, an achievement she was immensely proud of.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people think that it\u2019s weird that I can fly planes, but I can\u2019t drive a car,\u201d Filgueiras told WPEC-TV in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victims identified\u00a0<\/p>\n

A family-of-four from Texas<\/a> were travelling on the doomed jet with their nanny and two close friends.<\/p>\n

Helen Sharp, 40, and her husband, Adam Robinson, 45, were travelling with their children, four-year-old Emma and two-year-old Charlie.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdam and Helen were devoted parents,\u201d a joint statement from the families of several victims read.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir warmth, generosity and gift for making people feel welcome touched so many lives. Their loss will be felt deeply by all those who loved them and who they loved in return.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s nanny Anita Maria Cetina was also onboard the flight.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnita Maria cared for Emma and Charlie with tenderness and devotion, and was truly part of the family. She showed us a legacy of unconditional love and devotion,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s friends, couple Charmi Fehr and Rachael Reed, were also among those killed.<\/p>\n

The pilot was identified as 55-year-old Jeff Gregory, an experienced aviator from Pennsylvania, according to TMZ.<\/p>\n
