The Rockets are rolling to start the season, sitting 7-1 after a big win over the Celtics, but Kevin Durant isn’t all smiles.

Durant took issue with a question from a reporter after Monday’s win, getting into a heated conversation over a question about his lack of shot attempts.

Durant attempted only six shots in a 109-93 Rockets victory, scoring 12 points.

Here’s a look at the eyebrow-raising interaction between Durant and a reporter.

Kevin Durant gets into tense exchange with reporter

After Monday’s game, Durant objected to a question from the Houston Chronicle’s Varun Shankar about his quiet night offensively with only six shot attempts.

“Why are you singling me out?” Durant asked, pointing out that the Rockets won the game. “Jabari had 30 last game, he only had 14 tonight. You going to talk about his variety?”

Shankar later pointed out on social media that Monday marked the second time in Durant’s 20-year career that he played more than 30 minutes and attempted six or fewer shots.

“Jabari isn’t the fifth-leading scorer in NBA history,” the reporter said, to which Durant responded, “What does that have to do with anything.”

“We won the game. Why are you singling me out?” KD in a light back and forth with @ByVarunShankar when asked about his lack of shots. For context, tonight was the third game this season he took less than 10 shots. “Jabari had 30 last game, he only had 14 tonight. Are you going to talk about his variety? Do you have a solo cam on me? We won the basketball game.” Varun: “I don’t mean it as a criticism.” KD: “Yes you do.” Full exchange here:

Shankar’s response still wasn’t enough for Durant.

“Are you just watching me all game? Do you have the solo cam on me?” Durant said. “We won the basketball game, bro.”

Durant would ultimately answer the question, explaining that his presence on the court alone impacts the opportunities for the players around him. Durant started the season with four consecutive games of at least 20 points, but he has attempted fewer than 10 shots in three of his last four.

Never one to shy away from a back-and-forth with a reporter, Durant appears to still have that fire in his age-38 season.
