The UK has an abundance of art. Whether you\u2019re in Sussex, Salford, Cardiff<\/a> or Cornwall<\/a>, there\u2019s likely to be somewhere nearby that houses a glorious collection of paintings, ceramics, sketches or sculptures. So,\u00a0Time Out\u2019s writers and editors were spoiled for choice when putting together our guide to the greatest art galleries in the country<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the end, we\u00a0landed on\u00a016 magnificent art venues and over the last month, we\u2019ve been spotlighting each of them from the Whitworth in Manchester<\/a>\u00a0to the MAC in Belfast<\/a>. Now, it\u2019s time to spotlight number eight in the ranking.\u00a0It\u2019s 10 miles from Edinburgh<\/a>, it\u2019s entirely outdoors and it\u2019s like Lewis Carroll\u2019s Wonderland come to life. Time Out\u2019s eighth best gallery in the UK is Scottish sculpture garden\u00a0Jupiter Artland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Across 120 luscious acres, Jupiter Artland is home to dozens of magnificent installations by the likes of\u00a0Tracey Emin, Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley and more. A 12-metre-tall orchid called \u2018Love Bomb\u2019 by Marc Quinn sits against the backdrop of the Pentland Hills; a fountain made of giant spiralling shells by Laura Aldridge called \u2018A Comic Reset\u2019 is in front of the guesthouse and a topsy-turvy\u00a0abandoned\u00a0toy shop\u00a0by Scottish artist Rachel Maclean hides in the woodland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is only the second year ever that Jupiter Artland will stay open during the autumn and winter (although it\u2019s closed through January).\u00a0During that time, it\u2019s hosting\u00a0a major exhibition from Turner Prize winner Tai Shani.\u00a0M.I.A.S.M.A.\u00a0is the sculpture park\u2019s\u00a0first international co-commission and\u00a0reimagines the Ancient Greek tragedy Antigone for our current times. It\u2019ll be at Jupiter Artland until early 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Remember to pack your bathing suit \u2013 as far as we know, this is the only gallery in the\u00a0UK with a piece of artwork you can actually swim in.\u00a0Joana Vasconcelos\u2019 \u2018Gateway\u2019 is a heated pool made up of more than 11,000 hand-painted Portuguese tiles that create a bright, psychedelic pattern. Public bathing sessions allow up to 12 guests to enjoy the pool for up to an hour. Visitors can also take a dip\u00a0in the lake at the centre of\u00a0Charles Jencks\u2019 spectacular landform \u2018Cells of Life\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oh, did we mention you can also stay the night here? The Artist House at Jupiter Artland is available for bookings of up to six guests. It\u2019s got hot underfloor heating, a wood-burner, a\u00a0Swedish wood-fired outdoor tub and its own orchard.
