It\u2019s been a long wait<\/a> for the Blue Eye Samurai<\/a> faithful, but relief is in sight. Netflix has finally announced a date for season two. Six new episodes of the acclaimed animated series<\/a> will premiere on January 19, 2027, and there\u2019s even a new teaser video to share the news:<\/p>\n

Season one ended with Mizu (Maya Erskine) heading to London in search of her father, and season two will pick right back up with her quest.<\/p>\n

\u201cLondon in 1657 had a thriving culture of illicit activity, something that fittingly parallels our story of Japan,\u201d Blue Eye Samurai creators, executive producers, and writers Amber Noizumi and Michael Green told Netflix blog Tudum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The change of scenery will bring plenty of conflict for the show\u2019s fiery heroine.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the first time, she\u2019ll have to confront what it\u2019s like to stand out as Asian in a sea of white faces. And then find out what it means to be a woman during one of the most oppressive times in English history,\u201d the duo added. \u201cMizu is such a force of nature\u2014we\u2019re taking a volatile element and dropping it into an unstable equilibrium and then waiting for a chain reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n

And yeah, they know you\u2019ve been waiting a long time\u2014since November 2023, to be precise\u2014to see Mizu back in action, and they have a reasonable explanation as to why: it takes a long time to make a quality show like Blue Eye Samurai.\u00a0\u201cThe care that every single member of our team poured into researching those worlds, then crafting them brushstroke by brushstroke into breathtaking, moving art, is nothing short of a miracle to us,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Along with the returning Erskine, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, and Masi Oka, new characters in season two will feature the voices of Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster, and Sherry Cola. We\u2019ll get to meet them when Blue Eye Samurai returns on January 19.<\/p>\n
