{"id":952087,"date":"2026-11-04T08:28:11","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T08:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952087\/"},"modified":"2026-11-04T08:28:11","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T08:28:11","slug":"miyako-ishiuchi-and-katayama-mari-in-conversation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952087\/","title":{"rendered":"Miyako Ishiuchi and Katayama Mari in Conversation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Join us at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icp.org\/events\/naomi-rosenblum-icp-talks-photographer-lecture-series-miyako-ishiuchi-and-katayama-mari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">International Center of Photography<\/a> for a special conversation between photographers <a href=\"https:\/\/store.aperture.org\/products\/ishiuchi-miyako-traces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Miyako Ishiuchi<\/a> and Katayama Mari, moderated by curator Pauline Vermare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The artists will discuss the wide-ranging scope of their career, including both Katayama\u2019s and Miyako\u2019s work on view in the current exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icp.org\/exhibitions\/im-so-happy-you-are-here-japanese-women-photographers-1950s-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">I\u2019m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spanning photography, installation, photobooks, and printed matter, the exhibition explores the experiences and perspectives of women in Japan through delicate and blunt observations of everyday life, critical reflections on the roles inhabited and reshaped by Japanese women, and approaches that push the boundaries of photography. The exhibition is accompanied by a <a href=\"https:\/\/store.aperture.org\/products\/im-so-happy-you-are-here-japanese-women-photographers-from-the-1950s-to-now?_pos=1&amp;_psq=I%27m+so+&amp;_psid=72969a5fc&amp;_ss=e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">major publication<\/a> (Aperture, 2024) that expands upon the content of the show through essays, historical material, and a comprehensive bibliography of photobooks made by Japanese women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This program is being offered both in person at ICP and online.
