{"id":952141,"date":"2026-11-04T09:40:12","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T09:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952141\/"},"modified":"2026-11-04T09:40:12","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T09:40:12","slug":"former-nrl-star-trent-merrin-arrested-over-alleged-backyard-peptides-lab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952141\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NRL star Trent Merrin arrested over alleged backyard peptides lab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former NRL player Trent Merrin has been charged over his alleged involvement in a backyard peptide lab.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Merrin, 37, will appear in a Wollongong court later this month after he was charged with a string of offences.<\/p>\n<p>NSW Police and the Therapeutic Goods Administration earlier this year established a task force to investigate the \u201calleged illegal manufacture, supply and distribution of peptides\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Police raided a Shell Cove home on July 24 and have alleged they uncovered a \u201cclandestine peptide manufacturing facility and large quantities of restricted substances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 39-year-old man was charged over his alleged involvement and his matter has been finalised by the courts, police said.<\/p>\n<p>And Mr Merrin was arrested at Surry Hills Police Station on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He has been charged with five counts of manufacturing goods for use in humans resulting in harm\/injury and one count of participating in a criminal group.<\/p>\n<p>He is due to face Wollongong Local Court on November 24.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInquiries under Strike Force Antree remain ongoing,\u201d NSW Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Originally published as <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/national\/nsw-act\/courts-law\/former-nrl-star-arrested-over-alleged-backyard-peptides-lab\/news-story\/c904c682432bde6f64074f5bf0ffaed6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Former NRL star arrested over alleged backyard peptides lab<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Former NRL player Trent Merrin has been charged over his alleged involvement in a backyard peptide lab.
